Chapter 26- Surprise

Scarlett's POV

Darkness hugged me tightly and silence welcomed me peacefully. The atmosphere around me was bone chillingly dead silent, not a single murmur or heartbeat was detected. My eyes could distinguish the figures and silhouettes crouching down, attempting to conceal themselves from plain sight. However, as the time grew longer, the air was met with an increased tension and anticipation.

I've been crouched behind a table for what feels like hours, waiting for a specific someone to enter. My legs began to shake and I cursed at my weakness under my breath. It's quite difficult to hold a position for a long duration of time, especially in heels and a somewhat tight dress.

Before this whole situation had occurred, someone had announced that they saw y/n's vehicle puling up into the parking lot. Then another individual came up with the bright idea to hide and surprise Colin when he enters. Everyone unanimously decided to follow that idea and we're all currently waiting for them both to enter. Which, might I add, is taking forever. I don't know how much longer my thighs or my calves can take of this unnecessary and unbearable torture.

Suddenly the door bell rang three times and echoed throughout the mansions walls and within my ears, signaling their abrupt arrival. Everyone around me began whispering in excitement and joy, which I didn't understand nor take part of. I then noticed y/n's father swiftly yet cautiously open the door, revealing Colin with a blind fold and y/n guiding his steps from behind him. Y/n then slowly leaned into Colins ear whispering something to him, that I cant seem to make out since I'm quite far. In return Colin slowly yet hesitantly removed his blind fold.

Surprise

As if on cue, lights instantly turned on like a flash-bang almost blinding me. The people erupted in awe and eagerness, creating chaos amongst each other. Silver confetti was released into the air towards Colin and Y/n's direction, golden balloons were released from the ceiling and they slowly fell gracefully to the floor. Then, subtle party music began to play and everyone dispersed into their own little conversations, thus indicating the official start of the celebration.

I hastily stood up, finally stretching my body completely, and abandoning the table that once concealed me entirely. I then composed my dress and made myself comfortable while walking towards Colin. I noticed his face flushed pale, potentially in shock from the unknown surprise. As I got closer, his ears seemed to pick up on the clacking of my heels and he turned in my direction. I smiled at him proudly for his achievement and he reciprocated the action while walking towards me.

He embraced me tightly and caressed my lower back "Did you know about this?" He softly asked while taking my hands in his.

I slowly nodded while gazing up into his blue eyes "I just found out this morning." I replied.

He smiled and glanced down to my lips and lowered his head and I was met with a delicate yet passionate kiss. It felt different, like he actually cared and appreciated me. As he retracted from the kiss my eyes suddenly landed on y/n, who was behind him a couple feet away. I noticed her clenching her jaw and looking down at her feet.

I ignored her presence and gazed at Colin, who was in front of me "How do you feel?" I questioned.

He awkwardly shrugged "Surprised. This was completely unexpected, I thought I was just going out to dinner with y/n." He answered truthfully.

He then immediately glanced back towards y/n "Come over here." He waved her over.

She then gave Colin an irritated look and her eyes landed on mine and I could tell she was studying my demeanor, possibly wondering if she should come over or not. I gave her a very subtle nod letting her know I didn't mind. She then hesitantly progressed toward us.
