Y/n's POV
As I'm driving, I immediately notice the stoplight ahead of me flare an assertive yet distinctive shade of red, ultimately putting my vehicle into a sudden halt. I then take the opportunity to glance out my window, slowly taking in my chaotic surroundings.
Sidewalks overflowing with an immense amount of people from all walks of life, all heading somewhere they so desperately desire to be.
Even the streets are packed with rebellious jaywalkers, carelessly running through traffic, attempting to meet their destination.
If I look quite closely and actually focus my attention, it's actually incredibly obvious to distinguish the difference between a local and a tourist.
Tourists seem to be slow paced and more observant of their atmosphere, that and they very frequently take their devices out and capture a considerably large amount of unnecessary photographs.
On the other hand, a local tends to keep to themselves and stride at a constant yet confident pace, that and they give a disapproving glare to the individuals snapping an unbearable amount of photographs.
The cities atmosphere never ceases to amaze and distract me, putting me into a thoughtful trance. An intense wave of nostalgia abruptly kicks in, it's truly a warm feeling.
I can't help but reminisce on the constant days and nights that I resided within the city to work for my father and his company. Those were certainly simpler times, however, I unfortunately lost sight of who I was.
When I worked at the company I possessed a high ranking position and a sense of power and authority clouded my judgment. I formed into a completely different person, one who people feared. I was damn good at my job and earned the company a good amount of money, I was strictly professional and it affected the people around me as well as their behaviors.
A sudden glimmer of a green light reflected from the window into my eyes, indicating my cue to hit the gas. As I obeyed the light, I drove forward and my father's company tower quickly came into view.
If I were visiting under different circumstances, I'd certainly be happier to see it. However, the reality is that I'm only here on strict orders. I must pick up Colin and make sure he has no clue about the surprise party, which really shouldn't be all that hard seeing as how he also has no clue about the complicated yet intimate relationship I have with his girlfriend.
I instantly notice an open parking spot in front of the building and quickly maneuvered my way into it, I just need to get in and out as fast as possible. I then exit my vehicle and confidently make my way towards the entrance.
The doorman seems to be occupied on his phone, possibly something of importance since he seems to have a look of annoyance against his device. As I got closer I spotted him tapping piano tiles, he's playing a game.
Seriously?
I clear my throat quite loudly, successfully gaining his attention. He instantly flinches attempting to hide his phone and finally glances up at me. His eyes widen in shock and his color immediately flushes pale, no doubt he recognizes me.
"Miss Y/l/n! My apologies, let me get the door for you." He mutters nervously.
I shake my head "No, please continue. I like a man who can play piano." I tease.
He then smiles at me embarrassedly and I observe him intently as his cheeks turn red. As he opens the entrance, I give him a quick nod of appreciation and begin my journey towards the elevator in order to get to the top floor, where Colin should be.
