Chapter 6

Maya's POV
"Dad it's hot," I complained as I moved my sun glasses down.
"Quite complaining Maya your 14 years old not 5 and besides you did this," he said as he snapped more pictures.
"But it's too hot dad how much love longer?" I asked.
"Two hours then we hop in the truck and drive straight to New York," he said looking at me.
"Okay I can get a hint," I said as I walked away.
"Don't go to far!" He yelled.
"Yeah yeah," I said as I walked down the street.
" excuse me miss," a guy said as he tapped my shoulder.
"Can I help you?" I asked as faced the guy.
"Yeah you can tell me who you are so I can report you for trust passing," he said with a smile.
"Yeah right," I laughed.
"No really who are you I have never seen you around here before," he said.
"I'm Maya Hunter. You are?" I asked.
"Bradley Tompton," he said as he shook my hand.
"Nice to meet you Bradley," I said as I started walking again.
"Let me take you to this Café and we can talk," he said.
"Can't say no to that," I said as I followed him into the Café.
"I wasn't going to let you," he laughed as we say down.
"I thought you would say that," I said with a laugh.
"So where are you from?" He asked.
"New York," I said.
"New York? Your a long way from home princess," he said with a smile.
"Yeah well my dad he travels of his work and he wanted me to come with him," I said slowly.
"Oh well I'm glad you came because if you didn't I wouldn't have met you," Bradley said with a smile.
*beep*
I looked down at my phone and seen I had a message from my dad.
"What does it say?" Bradley asked.
"I have to go," I said as I got up.
"Wait!" He said taking my phone and handing me his.
I smiled and typed my number into his phone and then handed it back to him.
"Now we can talk more," he said as he hugged me.
"Yeah," I said as I walked out the door.
For a minute I had forgotten I was dating Josh. I ran down the street and met my dad at his truck.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Yes sir," I said as I jumped into his truck.
"What did you do these last two hours?" He asked.
"I hung out with a kind named Bradley," I said slowly.
"That's cool," he said with a smile.
"Dad! This guy was cute and nice and funny," I said.
"I thought you liked Josh," my dad said glancing over at me.
"I do!" I said loudly.
"Well," he said.
"Dad what if I like both of them?" I asked.
"Oh boy I went through this with Cory when he was choosing between Topanga and Lauren," my dad said.
"Lauren? Who is she?" I asked feeling a but confused.
"Nobody," my dad said quickly.
"She was somebody dad now who was she," I said with a smile.
"That's not the point Maya," he said as he pulled into a gas station.
"Why are we stopping here you said a straight shot to New York no stopping," I said.
He rolled his eyes and got out of the truck.
"Great real great now I'm not going to get home till tomorrow," I said to my self as I looked out the window.
"Okay here we are," my dad said as he got back into the truck.
"What? Jellybeans really dad?" I said.
"Hold out you hands," he said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Just do it," he said.
I did what he told be and held out my hands.
"Right hand is Josh the left hand is that Bradley kid," he said opening the bag.
"Okay," I said.
"Who makes you feel special," He asked.
"Well they both do," I said.
"Oh boy. Which one makes you laugh?" He said.
"Both," I said.
"Oh boy. which one makes you feel safe?" He asked.
"Josh," I said.
"They it's settled Josh it is," my dad said.
"But even though I only knew Bradley for a couple hours he does too," I said.
"Oh boy," my dad said.
"But it's not a comparison dad. I love Josh! Case closed," I said grabbing the bag of jellybeans.
"Love is a strong word Maya your too young to be saying love," my dad said as he pulled out of the parking lot.
"I'm not too young to fall in love. that's a good song," I said as I pulled out my note book.
"You are too young," he said.
"What ever you say Pa," I laughed.
"I hate it when you call me that," complained.
"Dad stop complaining you an adult not a 5 year old," I said.
"Taking my lines girl," he laughed.
"Yeah I am," I said with a smile.
Riley's POV
"Hey Farkle," I said with out looking up from my phone.
"How did you know it was me?" He asked.
"Because Lucas is on his way home from Texas and Maya is on her way home from California. Your the only one who would be coming through my bedroom window," I said looking up at him.
"What about Maddie?" He asked.
"She is out with Elliot," I said looking back down at my phone.
"Well what's so interesting on there Riley?" He asked.
"Nothing really," I said as I locked my phone and say it down.
"We can go to the Café and hang out," he said.
"Can't leave Carmen is coming home today," I said slowly.
"Carmen? She is your little sister the one that went to boarding school right?" He asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"Why did she go there again?" He asked.
"She wanted to," I said.
"And now she wants to come home?" He asked.
"Yeah because they are rude and she misses us," I said.
"Oh, well I guess I better go. I'll see you at school tomorrow," he said as he hugged me.
"Yeah see you at school," I said as he went out the window.
"Carmen is here!" Auggie yelled.
I got up and walked out my door and down the stairs.
Carmen is a year older than Auggie and Elliot is a year older than me and I'm 6 years older than Carmen. You see my pain I have none of my siblings close to my age well except Elliot but he will be driving soon and then he won't be around and Carmen and Auggie are little kids and stuff.
"Riley!" Carmen yelled as she ran over to me.
"Hey Carmen how are you?" I asked as I hugged her.
"We look alike mommy see," Carmen said pointing at my face.
"Yeah," my mom said with a smile.
"Riley daddy told me you would take me to the Café so I can see what mommy has done with the place," Carmen said with a smile.
"Sure thing Carmen," I said with a smile.
"Yay!" She said as she grabbed my hand and ran for the door.
"Sorry Riley," my dad called.
When we got there we sat down and Katy walked over.
"Hey Riley how are you?" She asked.
"Good how are you?" I asked.
"I've been better," she said looking down at her stomach.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"It's Mike he left me this weekend cheated on me for that matter," she said with a frown.
"Well it don't feel to go does it?" I asked.
"No it doesn't. Do you think Shawn and Maya will forgive me? She asked.
"Katy they love you very much and it's been hard for both of them. But time will time," I said with a smile.
"Thanks Riley. I'll get your drink," she said.
As I sat there and waited for my drink Carmen talked and she wouldn't stop. I being the person I am listened to everything.
Maddie's POV
"He is so cute Maddie," Elliot said as we walked down the street.
"I know," I said with a smile.
"I can't believe someone my age has a kid though," he said looking at me.
"It's hard and it's a mistake I wish I could take back but I can't," I said with a frown.
"Hey it's totally not a mistake Maddie," he said as he hugged me.
"I like you a lot you don't have to stay with me out of pity," I said slowly.
"I'm not! I really like you too Maddie," he said with a smile.
"We will see," I said as we arrived at my house.
"Thank you for a fun morning," Elliot said with a smile.
"Yeah," I said as I entered my house.
I went to my room and put Noah into his playpen.
We Noah are going to be alone forever. you and I both know Elliot is stay because he doesn't want to hurt my feelings. little does he know if I don't get attached he won't hurt me that the bandaid hasn't been on my heart for long he can rip it off now and it won't hurt," I said looking at Noah.
"That's not true," I heard a voice say.
I turned around and faced Elliot.
"How did you get in here?" I asked.
"I followed you in," he said.
"Does that mean you heard..." I started.
"Everything," he said as he walked in.
"Look Elliot I really like you but I don't want to be with you if your just going to hurt me," I said as a yearn feel from my eyes.
"I'm not going to hurt you Maddie and that's a promise," he said as he hugged me.
