Chapter 17

Maya's POV (day before 8th grade graduation)
"Maya?" I hear Riley called.
"Yea?" I asked as I turned around.
Riley and I made up after Lucas talked to me well honestly it was after Maddie talked to me but that's not the point.
"Will you be ungrounded after graduation? I miss hanging out with you," Riley wined.
I laughed and looked over at her. We are cleaning our lockers out.
"I should be ungrounded tonight when my dad sees my grades," I said as I looked back down at my stuff.
"Will you come over and hang out with me? I'm literally tiered of Maddie I love her and all but she is just like an older sister and stuff," Riley laughed.
"Not tonight Riles my dad probably won't let me besides I promised Chris I'd hang with him you know," I said.
"Maya he is 8 months old you can't do much it's like me promising Noah I'd chill with him and he's like 1 1/2." Riley says as she shuts her locker for the last time in these hallways.
"Yea but he's still my little brother Riles and I love him." I said as I slammed my locker shut.
"Well alright Maya if you say so," Riley says as we walked into our homeroom.
My brother is in deed 8 months meaning it's been 8 months since Josh dumped me it doesn't bother me much anymore although I miss him like crazy. I dated Bradley until about last week when I found out he was cheating on me with a girl back in California and after that he moved back. Riles and Lucas still a thing and they always will be and Elliot and Maddie might as well say they are engaged expected it's not technically engaged he gave her a promise ring and you can guess what Farkles love life is simple like mine wanting people we can't have.
"Okay 8th graders I bet you all are super excited for graduation tomorrow and well I'm ganna tell you that all of you made it to 9th grade," Mr Matthews says with a smile.
Suddenly all the eyes are on me.
"What? Y'all thought I wouldn't pass well your wrong not mind you business and take a picture it last longer," I said rolling my eyes.
Then I herd like 4 phone snap pictures.
"Really people literally," I said putting my head down.
"Okay guys here are your grades," Mr. Matthews says handing everyone envelopes.
I looked up and he started to hand me mine and then took it back.
"I'll give it to your dad when he picks you up," he says looking at me.
"No trust?" I asked with a cheesy grin.
"Exactly," he said as he walked away.
Lucas laughed.
"Shut up Huckleberry," i said turning around.
"I definitely didn't miss the names," he said as he rolled his eyes.
"Whatever," I said as I turned and looked at a very happy Farkle.
"All A's!" He shouts.
"Farkle you only ever get A's" Riley laughed.
"What did you get Lucas?" Zay asked from behind Lucas.
"Better than what you have," Lucas said.
"Ha ha," Zay said.
"Yes! All A's" Riley yelled.
We all laughed as the bell rang. I remained in my seat along with Riley, Lucas, Farkle, Zay, and Maddie. 
"Why are you all still here?" Mr. Matthews asked as Elliot walked in.
"You going to be our teacher next year Mr. Matthews," I asked as I looked up at him.
"Yea dad I mean we want you to join us in high school we need you to continue to teach us like you do?" Riley asked.
"You know what happened this year when you weren't our teacher we ran the guy out with out actually meaning too," Lucas said slowly.
"Yea I'll be you teacher next year and so will someone else but that's a surprise that you will find out when you get your schedules in the fall," he said with a smile.
"Okay," we all said as my dad walked in. It reminded me of kindergarten.
Flashback

"Okay class your parents will be here any minute to pick you up," the teacher said.
"Maya is your dad back yet?" Riley asked.
"No he's never home anymore," I said slowly watching the door.
"I'm sorry Maya," Riley said as he hoped up and ran to the door joining her Mom and older brother at the door.
Soon after Riley left Farkle left and I was practically in the classroom alone so I pulled out a piece of paper and started drawing.
"Maya?" I heard a voice say. I looked up and seen my dad and I jumped up and ran over him and gave him a hug.
Flashback over
Okay the feeling I had at the moment to jump up and hug my dad was the same then not the circumstances they weren't the same. I felt like hugging him because I know he is going to be proud of me when he see's my grades it was the first time in 5 years. I went into a small depression when my parents divorced and then my dad started working more and my mom got together with a new guy and I spent a lot of time with either uncle Jack or the Matthews. Things are starting to go back the way they use to be and that is what makes me happy. Mr. Matthews handed my dad my grades and I stood up and walked over to him and stood next to him and examined my grades with him. Out of the corner of my eye I seen the all to familiar smile from my dad. He turned and hugged me and kissed my head like he use to when I was young.
"Maya I am so proud of you see I told you that you could do it," he said with a smile.
Okay yes I partly only did go in school the last couple of months so I could get ungrounded and I did so now next year I can go back to slacking expected Cory will be my teacher again and someone else we know. Cory and and my dad talked some while Riley and I chilled in the hall way they sent us out of the room so they could talk we never question them simply because they are crazy, everyone else left. Lucas went home, Farkle went to Lucas' and Maddie and Elliot went to Topanga's the café. Riley and I remained in the hall.
Shawn's POV
"I'm proud of that kid out there the only reason I push her is because I don't want her to be me," I said as I sat on the desk in front of Cory's.
"Shawn you know she is exactly like you there isn't a moment she doesn't act like you and honestly I don't think anything you will change it," Cory laughed as he packed up his room.
"Yeah well I'm going to try my hardest to stop it that's the last thing I want is her acting like me Cor," I said.
"It's in her DNA Shawn just like Riley acts like me," Cory said.
"Yea thanks Cory for the health lesson does that mean Chris will act like me as well?" I asked as I walked over and started putting stuff into boxes.
"Maybe maybe not Elliot acts like both Topanga and I and Auggie acts like Topanga mostly," Cory said looking out his classroom window where Riley and Maya were sitting in the commons.
"Anyway Cory I'm kinda nervous about this whole teaching thing I mean do you think Mr. Turner is right about this?" I asked.
"Shawn he wouldn't have hired you if he didn't think you could do it. You went to college to be a writer which also are the same classes as an High School English teacher. Your going to be teaching three freshmen classes, three sophomore classes, and a senior class." Cory said.
"And you Cory your teaching freshman history's, sophomore history's, and government," I said.
"Yea and I didn't tell the kids that you were going to be a teacher told them it was a surprise," Cory laughed.
"Thank you," I said with a chuckle.
"Yeah well you better get go I'm sure Maya is just itching to get her hands on her electronics," Cory laughed
"Yeah probably," I laughed.
"See you tomorrow Shawn, remember she has to be here at 8:30," Cory yelled as I walked out the door.
"Come on Maya let's head home," I said.
