Y/N thought Tedros' words were enough to be left alone. Sadly for both of them, that was untrue. Every time the classes ate together, the girls' food was thrown onto the ground and left to starve, just like in Gavaldon. She was sad, of course, but it didn't put her down. After all, she was used to going without food for days; having only one meal a day was more than she was used to.
Even though Y/N had accepted the fact she didn't have any breakfast or lunch since her friends couldn't share and didn't bother to let Beatrix stop, the Dean of Evil didn't.
As the days passed, the redhead noticed the girl was not eating anything. And even though she believed that the girl should fix her bickering with the blonde princess herself, letting a student starve wasn't something she'd let happen. Which is why she ordered the guards to lay out an extra meal at her bedroom door once a day. Not one of the girls knew who was giving these secret meals, but all understood it was meant for the girl that didn't eat.
The Dean of Evil knew the girl wasn't the best student out there, but it was clear she had potential. To the dean, it was clear she'd become a powerful sorceress in the end. She simply had to realise and understand her powers in order to evolve and control them. She found it amusing that no one realised the great power the girl possessed; to her, it was obvious.
The redhead couldn't wait until all the people who thought less of her and bullied her figured out what a powerful being the girl from Gavaldon actually was. She couldn't wait for Y/N to blow up and hurt everyone twice as bad as they had hurt her. She knew it would be a delightful show.
She was surprised when she saw the girl for the first time—not by the fact that she also came from Gavaldon, but by the fact that she came from Gavaldon and looked like a menace. Her hair was initially black due to dirt and coal ash before she had the opportunity to shower. It was fully matted and mouldy. Her nails were relatively short but stained with pig's blood, and her clothes were all too large for her figure, draping over her body and having holes everywhere. It only covered her whole body because of the multiple layers of fabric she wore.
She wondered how her life was in Gavaldon since she couldn't remember it looking like that. It wasn't her place to ask in the end, nor was it her place to fix anything if not specifically asked for.
She did make sure she got normal clothes that actually fit her; her nails were cleaner than they were before; her skin actually looked clean again. But her hair? Her hair was too bad to be able to be fixed with a brush, shampoo, and a shower. In the dean's opinion, it was so bad that shaving it off was the only option available.
The Dean of Evil was surprised in the end though; even though the girl had to have constant headaches because of her hair and the lack of nutrition she was getting, she still thrived as if it were the last thing on her mind as if it didn't bother her, and this was the best thing that ever happened to her. She even had friends, although she never saw her talking to them during lunch or lessons; she didn't doubt Hester appreciated that about her; Dot talked for the both of them already.
While the Dean of Evil was concluding these things about her, the girl herself had found the library, or, to be precise, the restricted section. You might wonder how this girl had found this place; she saw the librarian being sneaky around a specific corner and disappearing. When the librarian was on a break, she walked towards that corner and began to touch whatever; in the end, she found a brick that would lead you to a secret door once you pushed on it.
She wondered what in the world could be hiding in the restricted section since, to her knowledge, there wasn't anything that she wasn't allowed to know about.
It quickly became clear to her that the books in the hidden room weren't necessarily banned from being read, but were prevented from being read. There were detailed files and books about the history of the school, even maps of the school that showed secret tunnels. She found old files of past students and their accomplishments up until now, and at last, she found explicit mature books. Why exactly these were hidden she didn't know, but they looked like they hadn't been touched in years, and the books themselves looked tens of years old. There was a possibility they had added this particular section back when she wasn't yet born but decided to remove it from the library for various reasons.
Y/N of Gavaldon was particularly interested in the old mature section; she had honestly never read such things since they weren't present in the library at Gavaldon. She wasn't particularly educated on the subject either; she simply figured things out from the sounds and conversations she heard at the houses next to her place of residence. It was still confusing, of course, yet she knew enough to be interested in reading the books for a better understanding.
She looked through all the different titles, caressing the books as she observed, noticing that throughout the section there were different genres, though she did not know most of them. In the end, one title stood out to her: "Teacher's Pet."
The wording itself was known to her: "a student in a class who is liked by the teacher and who is treated better than other students." She had no idea what this had to do with an explicit book. But since this was the only book that gave her a slight bit of familiarity, it was an easy decision for her to take it with her, hidden under her clothing, and walk towards her dorm room to read it once everyone had fallen asleep.
