Chapter 3

"(Y/n)!!! (Y/n)!!!" Charlie said shaking me in my bed
"What is it Char" I say falling back asleep
"(Y/n)!! I heard a clatter on the roof and I told dad and he said that there was someone on the roof and he went outside " Charlie said super fast while still shaking me and yanking my blanket off of me
"THERES WHAT?!? WHERES DAD?!" I say sitting straight up and looking at him
"He's outside cmon!" He said pulling me out of bed, and we both race out of my room
"Oof!" I said tripping over my comforter that charlie had yanked off me a few minutes ago
"Are you okay (y/n)?" Charlie says with concern
"Yea I'm ok let's go!" I say hopping right back up, we grab our boots and jackets and run out the front door

"You got him!" Charlie said to Dad he was standing next to a person lying on the ground dressed in a Santa costume
"Charlie,(y/n), stay where you are." Dad said to us
"Charlie, (y/n), would you listen to me? Stay up there!" Dad said as we both ran down to stand next to him
"It is Santa! You killed him" Charlie said to Dad looking at the man
"Did not. And he's not Santa." Dad said defending himself
"Well, he was." I said looking down at the man on the ground while dad gave me the stink eye for a second
"He's got some l.D. on him, I bet.
Fella, if you can hear me, I'm just lookin' for your identification. Once I figure out who ya are, I'll-- I'll give you a lift back to the mall."If something should happen to me, put on my suit. The reindeer will know what to do." Yeah, right." Dad said now with the card in his hand, then we all heard bells jingle and ran to look up at the roof

"Woah" Charlie and I said in unison seeing actual reindeer up on the roof
"Dad! He disappeared!" Charlie said then all of us run back over to where the man once was, now all of his clothes lay in the snow
"He's naked somewhere" Dad said
"Oh god it's my biggest fear...a naked man." I said thinking out loud and shivering at the thought, causing Dad to look over at me with a weird expression "What. It's true." I said to him giggling a bit
"You gonna put on the suit like the card said? Are you?" Charlie asked looking up at Dad
"No. No." Dad said shaking his head a little
"Come on, Dad. I wanna go too." Charlie added
"Stop it, Charlie we are not going anywhere." Dad said getting aggravated
"You never do what I wanna do!" Charlie said getting upset
"Would you please be quiet for a minute so I can figure this out?" Dad said raising his voice making me jump

"Reindeer up on the roof. Santa suit layin' on the ground. Guy fell. Not my fault" Dad said thinking out loud
"Reindeer on the roof. That is hard to explain." I say with a little nod and a sigh
" It's the ladder." Charlie said while dad ran into it making me stiffle a laugh
"Where the hell'd this come from?" Dad said rubbing his forehead while Charlie started climbing it

"Look here, Dad. "The Rose Suchak Ladder Company."" Charlie said pointing to a gold plaque on the ladder
"Huh?" Dad said looking up at Charlie
""Out by the roof there's a Rose Suchak ladder." Just like the poem."
"Just like the poem?" Dad said Charlie continuing to climb with me following after
"Don't look down, don't look down!" I said to myself shaking as I climb
"Charlie, (y/n), come on down from there. Charlie, (y/n), get down from there!" Dad said yelling up to us
"Dad! You gotta see this!" Charlie said climbing up the roof now with me trailing behind
"Don't touch anything!" Dad yelled up to us again
"It's great!" Charlie said getting close to one of the reindeer
"We'll aren't you a cutie!" I said petting one of the reindeer
"I'm just gonna call the police. I'll carry this stuff up there. Let them deal with it, okay?" Dad said picking up dead Santa's clothes off the ground

"Hi Prancer!" I said looking at the name plate of the reindeer I was petting while smiling at Charlie giggling getting kisses from Comet
"Dad isn't this neat!" Charlie said as Dad made his way on to the roof too
"Charlie. (Y/n)! Stay away from those things.
They're reindeer. You don't know where they've been. They all look like they've got key lime disease." Dad says as Comet the farts
"Phew! Easy Rudolph." Dad says Comet then grunts "Excuse me, Comet" correcting himself
