Chapter 8 ~ Vulnerable

Nya's POV:

"Just a little more lloyd, you can do it" I say as i help lloyd to a safe location. "y-you don't have to do this nya" Lloyd wheezes. "I must Lloyd. If harumi gets to you-" "I'm not the only one in danger right now" Lloyd stops. I face him and hold him tightly on the shoulders. Lloyd doesn't meet my eyes. "Before you guys came, harumi revealed a part of her plan. i don't what's she's planning but she told me that she wanted me and for some reason, jay's powers" Lloyd explained. I gasped. "no, no, no" i mutter to myself as i looked away. i remembered then that i told my brother and the others to get us. if harumi wants jay and i told him to come here- "oh no" my eyes grew wide as i see shows appear out of nowhere and within seconds, we're surrounded. both too weak to fight back. "it's a trap! harumi put down the shield so that i could tell them to come here!" i suddenly realise to my horror, "this is all harumi's doings! we need to tell them to stop" I put on my hood and attempted to call them back. it doesn't work. the shields are on again. i curse under my breath as i take out my weapon to defend Lloyd at any cost.

then i hear a menacing laugh behind me, i turn to see harumi grinning, "what a loyal teammate you are nya. but alas, that goes to show how weak the green ninja is" "Lloyd is not weak! you are harumi!" I yell and charge at her.

Cole's POV:

*I. am. in. a . car. with. kai!* I scream to myself. *this could be my moment!* i try to have a friendly conversation, "so uh... how did it go with skylor?" kai said it was just a little meet up between them. i could feel kai's hesitation, they is something he's keeping from me. but finally he answered, "good" i frown. i thought i might have a bit of a conversation. "what did you guys do while i was..... busy?" *now this is getting somewhere* "well, i played some video games with jay, trained with master wu and nya and you know, usual" I said as it was a bitter candy in my mouth. honestly, i was lonely without kai in the monastery. even though no one admitted it.

For the rest of the drive no one spoke, well almost no one. like half a mile out heard jay hum something. that's all. But thank god we arrived at nya's location shortly. "We're too late! they're surrounded" Jay pankied and got out. Kai pushed a button which activated vehicle weapon system. I attempted to shoot a few shadows but my element is useless against them. "Let me try Cole" Kai asked and i gave him the controls and i got off with my hammer at hand. "oh come on, you started without me harumi" I say sarcastically. "enough with the sarcasm! Shadows-" She looked at jay and pointed, "Bring him to me!" She commanded. Jay went pale and was frozen to the ground. Harumi wrapped venge stone chains around nya and lloyd and focuses on the shadows. i keep behind her view and run to lloyd and nya selinently. "Cole!" lloyd said in a high pitch squeal. I put my hand on his mouth and whisper, "shh... Lloyd, are you guys ok?" they nod. "I'm getting you guys out. stay still" I try to break the chains with my strength, since it's venge stone, my powers are weak, not gone. I try my best and crack them best. "lloyd, can you get out and help me?" I ask since lloyd may be able to free himself now that he's chains were lose. "on it" Lloyd wiggles out and breaks nya's with a snap. "thanks" Nya smiles and gets up. her knees shake and she goes down to her knees. "i'm o-okay" she says breathless. "you've done your part nya" Lloyd holds her hand, "now that i have my strength back, i'll do the rest" Nya nods and we run to help the others. lloyd asks me "cole, do you know about mind reading powers?" he says. I was confused. i honestly reply, "what do you mean lloyd? i don't think i know any of sort" "Oh, it's just that i read a scroll at the monastery with says something about the 'the one who's one with the earth and touch something and foresee an urgent massage from thee" I raised an eyebrow. Lloyd sighs, "'the one who's one with the earth' is you cole, this has to do something with you. that's the only line that makes sense to me. but if i survive that i might be able to ask my mother top look deeper." I was surprised. "maybe it's not me. Lloyd, those old scrolls can mean something else entirely. i don't think that i have such power. if i did, i'd have found it already"

Kai's POV:

I blast the shadows with the inbuilt blasters. It's not use. I give and get out. I gotta protect jay, *even if he's an annoying brat. he's still my sister's yang. she'd kill me if i didn't do anything. he's also my teammate*. I concentrate my energy and i blast one last effort to weaken one of the shadows closest to Jay. to my utter luck, it startled the shadow and it pushed it a few feet. But my knees buckled and everything went blurry. "i-i don't feel good" I mutter to myself. I shake it off and come to my scenes.

The shadows are still keeping to jay. who's struggling to defend himself, his lightning only weakening the shadows. they are slow, that's my only advantage. I do spinjitzu and tug jay out of there. "phew" Jay said wiping sweat from his forehead. "Thanks kai" "don't mention it" I squeeze his shoulder. "this isn't over yet. be alert. by the way; why does harumi want your sorry butt anyway?" Jay throws me a dirty look, "I wish i knew kai. " He says plainly.

Then i see Lloyd and cole run towards us. I hug lloyd tight, "k-kai. loosen up will ya?" "oh gosh! sorry" I grin and i let go. "are you feeling alright lloyd?" "yeah. better than before is all i can say" "where's nya?" Jay looks lloyd in the eye, "i'm here" Nya comes behind cole and lloyd. Jay hugs her. "i was so worried. are you ok?" "yes. harumi pulled us into a trap. and i have bad news: it's you jay, she wants you"

"WHY ME?!?" Jay shook me. I roughly pushed him away and cole giggled. i threw him a dirty look. it's serious time cole. "I don't know jay. but if she wants you, we'd better keep you hidden-" "JAY! BEHIND YOU!" cole exclaimed. we turned to see a huge shadow with harumi riding it! "you will not escape me this time.!" she smirked and purple tentacles grew from behind the shadow. Lloyd temporarily blocked them with his powers and it shielded us for a moment, "we do not have much time" Zane said. Nya and lloyd exchanged worried glances. Nya looked below to the canal below us. She kissed jay an whispered an "I love you" and she pushed us into the water. "no!" I tried to stop her but it was too late. as i fell i saw harumi capture nya and lloyd. Tears flooded my eyes and i splashed into the water hard.
