Chapter 7 ~ "rule 2: I'm driving"

Cole's POV:

Kai blasted a fire blast as one of a shadows lunged at me. Kai's blast when right through it and hit a mailbox, melting it instantly. As if it meant nothing the shadow grew and looked at me, or so i thought it did. Other times i'd have acted fast and gotten the heck out of there. But facing the shadow all my scenes seem to abandon me, i stand there frozen in fear.

everything was in slow motion. ".....cole...!" Heard kai yell, i seems so far away. I turn slowly as kai pushed me out of the way. Everything comes back to normal. as i open my eyes. kai's laying on top of me, his chest against mine. I blushed and kai looks nervous too. I grin and put my hands behind my head, "so.... how about that 'let's grab some coffee' you were talking about?" Kai blushed and his eyes sparkle. But he quickly puts on his serious face and mutters something like, "we don't have times for this" and gets off me.

Jay's POV:

"what he heck" i mutter and tug on nya, "just look at them" I smirk. "you think that they're-" "not yet, but i'm sure" i smile. i turn to see a shadowy figure behind nya, ready to pounce at her. "LOOK OUT!" I yell and i blasted with my lightning, it just goes through it and hit a building, shattering a few windows. i cursed as i huddle nya close. To my relief, a familiar green blast evaporates the thing. I look up to see Lloyd fighting some shadows on a rooftop, surprisingly he's powers destroyed the figures one by one. But he seems to tier every blast. "zane, a-analysis" I shake zane. "C-ca-lm d-d-o-wn j-ay" i stopped shaking him, "sorry but please do" Nya slapped her forehead. Zane's eyes flicker for a few moments, " i wish pixel was here" he mutters and turns to me and nya. "Since these are shadows, evil and chaos and lloyd's powers meant to symbolize light, good and order they seem to destroy them. But lloyd uses a lot of energy for these specific shadows than others. we must act quickly before he.....-" "what?" "b-before he burns out" Zane said with a worried expression. Nya looked in the verge of tears, "you don't mean-" zane nods sadly and looks at lloyd. "he might die jay"

It was a lot to take in but it's a possibility, we can't let that happen. I spinjitzu up to lloyd. nya and zane not far behind.

Lloyd's POV:

*what a day has it been* I think to myself as i blast more and more shadows, growing weaker by the minute. *I got thrown three blocks and against a fricking GLASS window, broke a few ribs and got cuts. my EX wants to KILL me and my friends. NOW I'm fighting these THINGS of who knows what!* I scream out and blast more, this time with my rage I vaporize a few at a time. I fall to my knees and breathless. I could sense someone looking over me, "Oh dear, tired already? why, I have some more things to play with" Harumi says as she messes up my hair. I could only glare at her, It feels like a mountain on my shoulders now. I could hardly keep from screaming from the pain, deep inside. I know she's only doing this to annoy me and make me get angry so that after i lose most of my energy and i black out. my friends won't be able to do anything about it. 

the shadows only weakness is ME, my powers are the key.

"what. do. you..... want?" i ask through deep breaths, sweat and blood soaking my gi. I could feel harumi's beautiful yet menacing smile at me, "oh nothing of sort" she answered. "y-your lying" I wheeze. even talking makes me weaker. "if your that eager lloyd. I have my plans. i WILL reveal them when the time is right. For now all that you need to know that it involves a certain lightning ninja and you" "w-what d-do you w-want with jay?" i ask trying to protect him from what's to come. "on my dear lloyd-" he raises my chin and i'm forced to look at her. i'd have protested and blasted her if i weren't to exhausted and hurt. "always asking questions. always trying to find the truth........ You are my only weakness Lloyd-" I feel strength coming up, "ANSWER my question harumi: why do you want jay?!?" I snarl. As if nothing happened harumi continued, "that lightning one's powers might be of use to me. yours is no exception" she smirks.

"EAT THIS HARUMI!" i heard jay yell and harumi let go of my chin to protect herself. "lloyd!" i think it was nya, I wasn't sure. But i felt a cold water over my back. It healed my deeper wounds instantly and my eyes cleared. I look up to see nya sweating and zane and jay fighting harumi.. "hi lloyd" nya smiles at me breathlessly. i put my arm around her shoulder as she tries to get me out of there. "can you walk? you are a bit heavier than when you were small" I force a little chuckle, "i think so-" I keep my feet steady, i stll haven't regained much energy but i manage to walk on. "good. can you still do spinjitzu?" "i-i don't think so" "it doesn't matter" she managed to drag me to a canal, which exited to the seas at the end. I look her in the eyes, *she's scared* i felt the same at that moment, *she wants jay and kai to be safe and to get me to safety* I know that feeling all too well.

Kai's POV:

After that rather embarrassing moment i roll over and get up. Cole just seemed dazed and i gave my hand. He smiled warmly and took my hand which made my stomach flutter. i tried to dismiss my feelings but i just couldn't and i looked away to get off focus. Then I saw Jay and zane fighting harumi up on the roofs. by the looks of it: they needed our help. I dust my gi and look at cole. "we-we gotta help them cole" I mustered. Cole gripped my hand and he used his powers to kind of catapult us to one of the rooftops.

My eyes were wide open and i was speechless for a few seconds. then I came back to my scenes and took my hand -kind of roughly- from cole. *focus Kai* i closed my eyes and told my self. I opened them again to see jay and zane being overpowered by harumi and the dozens of shadows surrounding them. I hated this but i looked up to cole, "we need to help them until lloyd is safe." I say as calmly as possible without showing any interest in talking to him directly. Cole nodded and activated his powers. "NINJAGO......GO!" I spinjitzu and roundhouse kick at harumi. It startled her, I guess she wasn't expecting me to show up. but to her defense a shadow figure jumped in between us and i undoughtly went through it. for a slight moment, I felt bitter cold, dread and pain course through me. My strength drained in an instant. Harumi blocked my kick with her elbow and i backflip behind her, narrowly avoiding falling off the 4 story building. But Lucky for me, Cole tripped her and she landed on her butt. I could see jay fighting back a laugh.

I smile a bit at cole and jay breathlessly pats his back. "We'd have lost if it hasn't for you too showing up at the last moment" "what was it that took you so long kai?" Zane raised an eyebrow. "shadows" I said. "Cake" cole said in unison. "oh yeah. definitely shadows" cole said not meeting my eyes, "they are so hard to miss" he laughed it off I elbow him. then we all turn to harumi -she's gone! "where'd she go now?!?" Jay looked around.

"GUYS?!? you there?" nya screamed through our communicators. We all jump, suprised. "thank the first spinjitzu master you're safe" I say through my hood. "Kai! Lloyd's with me and he's not improving. he's really burned out. more bad news: we are surrounded!" "were are you?" Jay asked. "Arcadia Bridge, Main street i think" "wait, how are the communications working again? Jay said they were busted" Cole said. "earlier jay was right-" Jay put on his proud face "-now that harumi's powers are weakening, the sheild that was blocking our signals seems to be no more. i shall attempt to contact pixel for backup" zane explained. "quit staling guys! we need to get to nya. we can't let harumi or any of the shadows-" a shivers runs down my spine, *I know what it feels in the inside of it. I don't want anyone of my friends experiencing it any more than i want to* "get to lloyd or nya" I finish difficultly.

"almost forgot: we have vehicles" Jay looked at me. "oh yeah" Me and jay lead cole and zane to where we hid our vehicles. I deactivated the camouflage and the vehicles materialised. "cool" Cole got on mine. I was about to protest but jay got on his and yelled, "NO SHARING!" I look at zane with one last effort to not have another awkward moment with cole. "uh.... unfortunately, I have a few communications to work on our vehicles. I might take up the whole space" Zane smiled guiltily. I groan. I walk to Jay and tug his collar close, "If your trying to do what i think your planning jay, i wont work. i promised myself that" I said through greetering teeth. Jay smiled meekly, "i noticed kai. but at least get to know him better. i mean, look at him-" I saw Cole peeping from under my vehicle and talking to zane smiling *I gotta admit, he looked cute in a way* "-He's your type" jay smirked. I let go of Jay and i glare at him. "let me remind you jay: I just had a date with skylor. I can't betray her like this" Jay shrugs, "i don't know about that kai, just saying. Consider my opinion" "whatever" I turn to my vehicle and got on. Cole gets in right behind me. I close my eyes, "rule number 1: No touching anything-" "not even your hair" cole smirks. "ESPECIALLY not that" "rule 2: I'm driving" I say clearly. "can't argue with that can i?" . Zane spoke from the communicators on the vehicle, "you guys done?" "before you ask kai; your mic was unmuted. everyone heard" I went pink. "just focus ok?" i start my engine and race to nya's location. I just hope that we're not too late.
