The familiar "forbidden route". Under the other circumstances, Pete would never have broken his word. He still doesn't want to do it. But if this is the only way to get rid of the ghost's visits, he has no choice.
Expectedly closed. Pete looks at his nocturnal tormentor and spreads his hands:
"I don't know if you are able to do this but I can't walk through walls and locked doors."
Pachara — or who is he really there? — tilts his head. The look of his dead eyes comes to life for a moment, he turns it to the wall on the left. There, just beyond the door jamb, Pete notices a barely visible protrusion. He stretches out his hand to it and presses down. Right before his eyes, a small display with a digital layout appears on the surface of the door. Pete guesses that it is intended for a four-digit code.
"What's now? Do I have to go through a bunch of combinations?"
The ghost does not disappear anywhere. Only again, eerily and intently, looks at him.
"Last time you drew the letters on the window. Maybe you can draw something here, too?" very audacious and bold for the situation throws Pete.
But Pachara just shakes his head and nods towards the door.
"Should I guess for myself? Great," Pete puffs out his cheeks, "okay, let's try, you won't get off anyway."
Pete waves it off and dials the first combination:
2512
There is a nasty, ear-splitting sound.
"Yeah. Well, and if this way..."
0406
The sound of an incorrectly entered code is repeated.
"Well, I entered it at random, as if I could know what Vegas was thinking of... maybe you'd stop standing like an idol and help me?"
The ghost doesn't react. Pete rolls his eyes and, again waving away, "to clear his conscience" enters:
2504
Everything is finally blocked. This was the third attempt. The screen goes off and disappears.
"Super!" Pete shakes his head in exasperation. "The trick didn't work out. Is it all? Will you leave me alone now? Or..."
Pete stops talking and stares in horror: a crimson stream is flowing down Pachara's temple to his cheek. Squinting, the omega screams, and when he opens his eyes, he finds that he is lying in bed again, and Macau is snuffling funny on the pillow from the side. That's just Pete is not up to fun at all.
Why are these nightmares so realistic? I wish Vegas would come back soon!..
In the absence of his husband, Pete studies, prepares for midterm exams, and in his spare time, bored, sits in his room on the couch, occasionally smiling when Macau arranges another circus performance for him.
Why did I even think that the code would be my date of birth? Or our dates together? This door clearly stood there before me.
In fact, Pete really just wanted Pachara to leave him alone. But he can't figure out why the ghost began to appear — if they're not dreams after all - exactly at the moment when he finally got closer to Vegas. What is it? Jealousy? Is he Vegas' ex? If so, what happened to him?..
Damn... if he's Vegas' ex... it's a shame... he's handsome. Vegas must have treasured him very much. Although he pretended that he did not know any Pachara.
