// BLOOD, BREAKING BONES, INJURIES

More of the red skies au !! Might make a full book out of this soon lol

The day was cold and windy, the sun wasn't completely gone yet, it's light yellow glow stood out in the crimson sky. The clouds covered it softly and hid it from the new horrors that had been unleashed upon the world.

A young-ish yellow steve, Ari, wandered the forest, carrying a bag of resources over his shoulder. A few weeks, a little over a month, the first trace of darkness had run into, or more had been carried into their village. He'd been an 'elite guard', allegedly. Ari was one of the ones who took care of him, even gave him an apple (after he'd tried to run away). He was an odd friend.

At least, he thinks he was friends with him. Ari would call him Shadow, and he never seemed to mind it. He even embraced it, it seemed to make it his name.

Then that.. thing attacked and spiraled Ari to where he is now.

He was yanked out of his thoughts as a branch loudly snapped behind him, and he quickly whipped his head around to see the source of it. It wasn't a small twig, no, it had been a loud crack of a branch. Ari took a few steps back as he looked, pulling his sword out in case it was darkness that would attack him, and slung the bag into one of his hands, holding his sword in the other.

He silently gasped as a familiar face snuck out from behind the trees.

Shadow stared at him blankly, his eyes a bright crimson red, darkness horns growing from whatever he had left of his actual horns. He wore dark armor, like how he did when Ari first met him. Iron tiles- well, plates- were lodged around his chin and jaw, forcing him to be silent. He stared at Ari with no emotion in his eyes. No anger, no fear, no guilt. A pure, empty, slate.

"S-Shado-"

No other words were able to leave Ari's tongue as a sword whizzed by his head, barely missing his ear and leaving drops of blood where it had hit. Before Ari could think, Shadow was already moving, and Ari was barely able to raise his sword in time to stop Shadow from grabbing his shoulders, instead opting to grab the blade with his now metal-gloved hands.

He shoved down on the cold metal, making Ari stumble and fall to one of his knees from the sudden pressure. He tried to look back into Shadow's eyes, but still only saw nothing but a red abyss. The handle of the sword began to crack, and Ari knew he had to move now.

Clumsily, he threw himself back, ignoring that he'd dropped the bag of goods at this point. Apples, potatoes and wood were resting in the grass, little worms slowly coming through the dirt to nibble at them.

Shadow lunged again and Ari didn't even have a millisecond to move, he tried to move aside but Shadow practically foresaw this, grabbing Ari's arm and digging the tips of his gloves into his arm. They quickly clawed through his skin, successfully drawing blood out. Ari yelped and moved to pull away, but it only dragged it through the skin more, forming what looked like a claw mark.

With Ari in the lesser position now, Shadow raised his free hand and brought it down on Ari's shoulder, having somewhat of the same effect as his arm. Blood began to stain his dull golden clothes, making Ari struggle even more harshly. He kicked his legs out in a pathetic attempt to get away, processing that he might be dead in the next few minutes.

As he expected, all his attempts to pull away ended in brutal pain. Shadow, despite his emotionless exterior, seemed to be fed up with it and clenched both his hands near Ari's neck. Ari froze for a second, waiting for the feeling of cold metal ripping into his arteries. He was met with the slightly more pleasant sensation of being thrown against an oak tree.
