"This will be your new tutor until you are sufficiently prepared. He will accompany you during the day and your studies."

The man yapped on, Petro tuned in only slightly. He was the king's advisor, apparently. He kept his head bowed, of course he did. He was the prince's tutor now.

The prince himself didn't look like that much. Of course the fancy clothes screamed out that he was the prince, but Petro imagined him to be a little... more. After all, no one in the kingdom knew what he looked like. There were rumors, sure, but nothing solid. People claimed they saw him, but could never give a good reason why.

"It is advised and expected that you keep the subject of Prince Alux, and the rest of this position to yourself. Telling others could result in you losing this."

"Understood."

This was stupid. He could- and should- kill them both now. He wanted to, but he had to wait until the king was out of the way. It could take a week, or years. It depended on the opportunity.

The advisor walked away, and Petro kept a blank face as he leaned up. The prince- Alux, apparently- looked at him with the same blankness. Neither of them made a move for a moment, then Alux finally stepped forward. He held a hand out, and spoke a second after he did so.

"It's nice to meet you."

"Right." Petro took his hand and shook it quickly, Alux barely gripping back, "Where are we starting?"

"Oh, uh. Library. I'll show you around."

He seemed delayed on his words, like he was guessing every reaction before speaking, trying to find exactly what to say. He only was looking right at him when that advisor was around, and now his gaze was switching to anything but his eyes.

"Alright then." Should he say his name?

Alux led him down the hall, and quickly outside to a stone path. For all the fancy tedious bullshit he went through to get here, it felt a little off that he was let go so quickly. The prince also seemed a little nervous. Did they know something?

He didn't come here, knowing every in and out about this kingdom and how to deal with it, just to get arrested or executed. He was still carrying a heavy bag of books. It'd suck to be arrested when half his arm was going numb.

"This is the library, and... well, I guess you don't need to know much else." Alux was rocking on his feet, and there were very obvious bags under his eyes.

"Right." He didn't move, and neither did the prince, "Well, c'mon, let's start."

Petro pushed the doors to the library open. He didn't know if it was bigger or smaller than he thought it'd be. The only other people in the library were two old women, who seemed to scowl at everyone. Their faces got especially darker when Alux walked in.

"Hey.."

"You're late." Scornful tone. Were they his previous teachers?

"Sorry, I was getting a tutor. I would've been here if-"

"You still would've been late. Go sit down, and you too boy. I don't want to hear either of you." One of them was much more verbal, but the other gave a look of death.

Petro wanted to scowl back, but kept his face blank. Friendly personality. Don't try to make enemies. Yep.

Even if they were old and would die soon.

"C'mon. They're not too bad if you just stay quiet and do well."

"Are you doing well?"

"... well, uh... no."
