"So what now?"

"Fun question to ask when we're both covered in bandages, Seer."

"I mean, when we heal."

The two were stuck in an infirmary after the events of the Demon War. Colle had plenty of cuts and wounds all over him, and Seer had been far too over-exerted. Colle spent a long enough time staring at him to notice new cracks across his arms, he supposed sealing away a species of demons did that to someone.

As of now, they were the only two in there. Most other injuries the others had healed, and they were out in a day or two. Sometimes, someone would come in and give the two some food, or Colle's friends would come visit him. It was odd that no one said much to Seer besides a wave.

"I dunno. Beef told me when we're healed, they'll set up a festival to celebrate everything."

"That's gonna be a lot. Wanna break one of my arms so I don't have to go?"

Colle chuckled at that, although Seer's tone didn't fully seem like he was joking, "Pretty sure they'd still have something for you. You were the hero, after all."

"I guess so."

The room fell silent after that, and Colle bit his lip. A few thoughts went through his mind, and he slid off his bed. His legs still ached, and his feet became sore as soon as they touched the ground. Regardless of that, Colle took the grueling trip of walking a few feet to Seer's bed.

Once he got there, he pulled himself on. Seer met his gaze instantly.

"..What?"

"Seer, I want to talk to you about something." It sounded too blunt, and Colle immediately tried to backtrack his tone, "N-nothing bad, I'm not mad at you- it's just..."

The silence came back. Colle exhaled, and reached a hand out to Seer's. He didn't pull away from the motion, he let Colle wrap their fingers together and mess with his knuckles. Colle stared at Seer for a moment- no, longer than that. He was so beautiful.

Yet, he was also silent. So Colle had to speak up.

"Before the war, we uh... you remember, yeah. You said you didn't want to do anything big in case one of us didn't make it... well, we're..." Colle cleared his throat, not because it was sore, but because he felt like it would set on fire, ".. We're both alive, so..."

Seer didn't respond for a moment, and Colle couldn't bring himself to look at his eyes.

"That.. I guess so..."

"If you don't wan-"

"No! No, Colle, that's not what I meant. I just didn't expect you to still..."

Seer brought a hand to his own face, messily resting his chin in it. Neither of them could look at each other properly, only taking quick glances at their face, their nose, anything but the eyes.

"You're really beautiful." Colle had to push the words out of his throat, "Why would I ever change my mind?"

"You're..." Seer only looked further down, "You're gorgeous."

"You think so?"

Seer risked moved his hand to run it through Colle's hair. It was a bit messy, but still soft and curly. Everything about Colle was so striking to him, from his personality to his looks. Seer was surprised he chose to fall for someone like him.

He lowered his hand to Colle's face, covered in freckles with bandages across his cheek- one of the demons had gotten a good scratch on him, most likely something that would become a scar. It didn't matter to Seer.

"... yeah."

Colle leaned in closer, a bit too close, and Seer pulled away a bit. Both of them froze at the motion.

"Sorry, I just..." Seer leaned forward again, but kept a small distance, "... it's new."

"We've already done this."

"That was when you might've been dead soon. This is just... I, I don't know, what if it's..."

Colle's arms reached around Seer's neck, and they were closer. Much closer. Seer paused breathing for a moment, only feeling Colle's on his face. He liked the feeling of it. Colle was warm, like always, and Seer was cold. Like always. He didn't want to ruin that.

"We'll figure it out then." A pause, then, "May I?"

Seer would've giggled at the formality, if not for how his heart was about to pound out of his own chest. All he could do was nod his head and focus on how Colle's hand felt brushing through his hair.

Despite the gap being less than an inch, Colle closed it as soon as Seer nodded his head. It was like fireworks were going off in his heart, his brain, everything.

Colle felt similar feelings. Of course Seer was beautiful, with large rainbow wings and long hair- but it wasn't just that. Seer was kind. He clicked with Seer like no one else had. Even better, he chose to stay with Colle- support him, even- at his very worse. It spoke volumes of who he was.

Their kiss only lasted a few seconds, though, and Colle pulled back as soon as he processed what he was actually doing. Seer's face was flushed as red as Colle's hair, and his wings had curled around the two of them in those seconds.

"You... Look funny like that." was all Colle could mutter. In some woozy attempt to lean in back, he pushed forward - too quick.

He more or less shoved himself forward, then tried to pull back as they were already going down. It ended up with Colle leaning over Seer, practically pining him to the ground. Colle almost found it funny how he could see Seer's eyes widen.

Both of Colle's arms were on either side of Seer's head, and his head was racing. Blood was pumping through his heart quicker than ever. Instinctively, he told himself to move away, but he couldn't seem to respond to anything. His thoughts were swirling, only messy feelings were guiding him now.

They guided him down, on the bed. Collapsed next to Seer and holding his head in his hands. His face was beet red too, or at least as red as it could get. He felt the feathery embrace of wings, and soon the actual embrace of Seer himself.

"Sorry..." He mumbled through his fingers.

He felt a peck to his forehead, and little reassuring whispers. Tender, easy hands were wrapped around him; a sharp contrast to a few days ago when these same hands were ripping demons apart.

"It's okay." Seer finally responded, and Colle couldn't muster anything else to say. This time, the silence was comfortable enough. Colle's warm figure curled around Seer's taller, colder body. Limbs and limbs linked together.

Eventually, Colle fell asleep in such a feeling. He was warm, cozy, safe.

However, despite the warm red bundle asleep in his arms, Seer kept an eye open. Ironically, the only threat that could be considered was Seer himself, but he tried to ignore that.

He pressed his head down against Colle's hair and cuddled closer. Soft. Warm. Seer felt his heart fluttering.

"I love you."
