The sound of ringing echoed around my living room through the speaker of my phone. Another bite of the pizza in my hand came in the same instant that the call went unanswered, and that had me reaching forward to end the call with a sigh.
The rain hitting my windows sang in the space as my earlier conversation with Sebastian buzzed in my mind, awakening the motivation that now had me calling Dantae at ten in the morning. Really I was supposed to be focused on getting ready for my shift at the club later on, but here I was. I guess a part of me was also fueled by how everyone that the club described Sebastain. Dude goes back on his word if he can.
I ain't want that.
After a conversation with Dwayne and the rest of them about me being the head, I went straight to Sebastain. Turns out nobody held the position here, there was no driver, nobody setting the pace and it made a lot of sense why shit was so unorganized and chaotic in the way we moved. It wasn't even none of the security there leading the boat, it was Sebastian setting up how shit worked.
That shit stressed me the fuck out lowkey cause that meant safety wise shit was real half-assed, which meant when shit went down there was no immediate plan of protection, motherfuckers were just winging it. That's why Dwayne almost got his ass stabbed the other night.
I took Compulsion's advice and tied in how each security problem was gon cost him if it wasn't fixed, even told him what went down the other night and what could've happened. From what the guys said too shit like that was the usual here, so Compulsion was really out here stitching up people like she said.
Dwayne ended up coming with me and Ethan to vouch for certain shit. I did most the talking but since they worked here the longest, they presence helped. In the end, he gave me the position, I substituted the raise I could tell he was hesitant to give me for some funds to get sum shit to help with security. Ethan also pushed for a few more guys to help. We ain't get no few, we got one, which was why I was here ringing down Dantae's phone.
RING
RING
I answered the incoming call immediately as I lifted another slice of pizza with my other hand.
"Keys?"
"Yeah, I'm here,"
"I just saw your missed call, what's up?"
"You still moving over on this side?" I asked him before taking a bite from the pizza in my hand.
"Yeah yeah, it's just that the apartment ain't gon be ready til next month so I'm just cooling and waiting on that," He confided with a sigh.
"I got a job for you working security at the place me and Jerome at,"
"Shit, you just saved a life cause I was still here searching for sumn," He confessed, making me chuckle as I reached for my drink, taking down sum. "What I need to send over for it to be ready for next month?"
"Not no next month, you gotta come over here as soon as you can," I told him while returning my drink to the coaster on the coffee table. "Since your spot ain't ready, you can come stay with me until then,"
"Aitte, I'll sort myself out and make the trip tomorrow," He assured me. "Imma take the bus over so you gon have to come get me, if you can"
"I got you, what time?"
"I'm shooting for early, so bout 0900,"
"Okay, I got you," I promised him as I lifted my pizza back into my hand.
"Thanks again,"
"You good, Imma see you?"
"Yeah," He agreed, and with that, the call ended.
