The sound of drill echoed around the space as Dantae continued to hold the door as the screw fell loose. It was five in the morning, and the entire club had cleared out an hour ago, and since when I got home neither me or Dantae could sleep even after two blunts, we took that shit as a sign and decided to get started on renovations early. I mean we did plan to do this shit today, just not this early in the fucking morning.
"You got it?"
"Yeah, I got it," He answered as he held the weight of the door, shifting to lean it against the wall, and I was left to look at the now-doorless private room.
Exactly how it should be.
"I'll bring the doors down and you can sort out the measurements to put the curtain rods up," He guided, and I nodded, watching as he did as promised while I grabbed the tape measure off the floor. I began to measure and mark while he went down the stairs with the first door.
Today was not only the start of changes it was also the day Dantae would be introduced to the women since yesterday, he simply met with Sebastion to sort out the getting employed particulars. Yesterday was also when Sebastain gave me a copy of the keys to the club since my new position now permitted it as he put that shit, and that small change, also helped with our early start.
"These motherfucking doors heavy ass shit," Dantae huffed out as he stepped off the stairs to settle beside me once again, and I snickered while turning to face him.
"You the one who chose your job,"
"I was tryna be a gentleman, sarge," He expressed, making me laugh as he walked off, getting ready to lift another door.
"I'm done with the measurements for the doors on this side so I'll help,"
"Yeah, come be a gentlewoman and help me out before I piss myself," He grumbled, quite seriously, and I moved over, squatting down and lifting one side of the door while he lifted the next. Our firm hold had us moving down the stairs to place it by the entrance next to the other one he had brought down, and with a deep breath and a wipe of my hands in my tank top, I looked at him.
"You good?"
"Yeah man," He breathed out. "What time people start coming in?"
"Around ten, eleven,"
"Think we can knock this out before then?" He said and I guided my gaze back to the stairs, going through my mentally held schedule.
"Yeah, I think we can, I'll, uhm, put the poles up and the curtains and you can sort out the cameras," I told him, knowing he was better with all things tech and wires than I was, I could put them up but he could set them up with ease. "Let's put a pause on bringing the doors down for now,"
"For sum cheap ass doors them bitches feel like dead bodies," He announced with his hands on hips, and I laughed with a gentle tap on his back.
"Come on, lets go get the shit from the car," I guided, and he nodded, moving off with me, to my vehicle that held all the equipment we got yesterday with the money Sebastain spared us.
Hopefully this tires my ass out enough for me to get sum sleep before my shift tonight.

The usual whispers of chatter greeted my ears as I entered the club, but as my steps pulled me deeper, I was met with an usual sight as all the girls sat around on tables on chairs while a man was busy on stage. Not dancing, he was up there standing on a ladder and fixing the shaky ass pole.
I guess Sabastian finally got around to that shit.
The mere thought was as unusual as it got, as I tossed my bag on the table Silver was sitting on.
"Who got Sebastain acting right?" I asked Silver, immediately, as I opened my duffle to grab my water bottle since the mere walk from my car to the club in that sun left me dehydrated.
"This ain't nothing to do with that man," Silver replied with a laugh as she looked at me while I flicked up the cap on my bottle before taking a swig. "That's Dantae, the new security Keys had come roun here,"
"Oh, he helpful like that?" I asked her, happy to finally have somebody around who could fix sum shit otherwise from Mr Gerald.
"Yeah, he was in the army, look like Keys was his sergeant," She answered and a laugh burst from me as I closed my bottle.
"You need to stay out these people's business,"
"They need to keep their business where I can't get to it," She re-worded with an amused smile. "It seems like he and Keys been here a minute, they done fixed and changed sum stuff. You ain't see the cameras out front and around here?"
"No, I wasn't looking," I told her with a frown as I began scanning the room observantly, catching one off to the side. I guess Keys planned to make good on her word. "So where Keys at?"
"Ion kn—I think she went outside," She said and I nodded, planning to go see— "Y'all fucking?"
"No—g-girl," I answered in pure disbelief, and she laughed as I reached down to zip my duffle back closed.
"I'm just asking,"
"Well, don't ask," I said, and that had her reaching out to tap my hand for my attention, and I gave it to her, joining our eyes.
"You know she feeling you right?" She asked in a much more lowered tone.
"I know she wanna fuck," I corrected, and she playfully rolled her eyes.
"So let her, God knows you need a lil bending," She stated as if it was the most sensible thing to do, and I grabbed my water bottle with one hand while flipping her off with the other.
"Go swing on pole or sumn and leave my ass alone,"
"So she can touch it?" She asked, smiling while reaching out and grabbing my ass, and I slapped her hand away with a laugh.
"Fuck you," I told her around my laughter as I walked away.
