(This is how you guys got closer! Like always enjoy!)
"Y/n! We have to start heading out are you finally ready?" You're father called out to you from downstairs.
"I'll be down in a sec." You yelled back rushing, finishing the last touches in your outfit and appearance. You looked in the mirror just to make sure you look good before leaving your room.
"You took forever. Now didn't I raise you to be on point."
Your father stood at the bottom of the stairs, shaking his head as if he were disappointed.
A few minutes late wouldn't kill anyone especially if it's the general who's they were literally celebrating in the first place. He's the birthday boy so they wouldn't mind. And we had high chances of making it on time if there was no traffic.
You said nothing but nodded your head in agreement, opening the front door stepping out towards the car.
"Are you nervous dad?"
"Why would I be nervous."
"That." You pointed to the piece of paper in his hand, which his speech are written on.
"Y/n please, I've given hundreds of speeches in my career. I'm sure I can do this one as well." He scoffed looking over the page one last time before putting it in his suit's pocket.
"Alright." You shrugged, looking out the window.
*party*
"I'll be right here dad go talk to your soldiers!"
Your father's birthday didn't seem like a celebration to him but more to his soldiers and his career. He adored his job very much which made sense of course but damn he never seemed to take a break, or even want one. He would without a doubt put his work before you constantly.
"Y/n!" You looked up seeing a familiar face in front of you.
"Philip graves. It's so good to see you, how are you?" You got up from your chair so you could greet him better, with a hand shake.
"I'm great it's so wonderful to see you as well.. how are you?" He went in for a hug instead.
"I'm great.." you returned the hug and damn he smelt good. Like fresh sweet apples.
You parted from the hug and he sat down right next to you.
"It's been awhile. You're father told me you are working intelligence is that correct?"
"Yes, It's really great so far couldn't ask to do something better."
"Glad to hear that." He nodded then turned to glance at your father who was talking to some other acquaintances.
"Anyways how are you enjoy yourself at this party Philip graves." You always called him his full name and you didn't have a reason for it, it just came out naturally like that.
He turned his attention back to you. "Great though one dance could make it more enjoyable." He said looking at you then at the dance floor
"That sounds nice, sure" even though he wasn't asking directly you still took up his offer getting up and grabbing his hand waiting for him to lead the dance.
"I'm not the biggest dancer so don't make fun of me if I step on your foot or something." You rolled your eyes jokingly
"Noticed I'll just ignore it like it never happened."
After dancing and the party
You told your father to go on without you so you could enjoy more time with graves, he was surprisingly fun to hang out with so on the drive of him talking you to your house you made sure to at least try making another plan to meet up sooner or later. He just said "it'll happen trust me." Then drove off, he didn't say a date or time just that. You assumed he didn't like you enough to go on a "real" date this time but that was fine You'd get over it.. hopefully.
A few days later
When your father called you into his office you didn't expect to hear him say "Y/n you are being transferred."
"What?" You were a bit surprised because you weren't thinking of any place that would be better for you than where you were currently.
"To the shadow company to be exact. You were requested and I approved it. I think you'll be a fantastic fit for the company." He explained smiling wide.
"Alright.. when do I start?"
"Soon in a few days maybe a week."
You nodded and left the room. You know he said it'll happen but come on moving and starting a new job? You were great this wasn't you flaming your ego it was just the reality so it made sense that he'd want you on his team but even now there was no chance you guys could have anything. "Not like I want something" is what you told yourself but that was pure denial you knew you have a crush on him even if it was the tiniest crush it was still feelings and you didn't want this "little" crush to a full on obsession. You knew how to control yourself of course but still he'd be your commander rather than just your fathers friend/right side man. Even then dating your father's friend wasn't too good either.. none of this looked good but all you could do was just let it go. You went upstairs to try to clear your mind..
(Okay just one more chapter of this story plot then you'll get some spice I promise.. 😞)
