Yoongi gulped when he read the message. Yes, he was getting a little scared when he read the email. What was this meeting for? Were they getting punished for their affiliation with Jihoon? Wouldn't Jaebeom be emailed too, then? Thoughts raced across his mind as he walked out of his office, taking small and shaky steps towards the CEO's room.
Due to the speed he was moving at, Soohyung, Hoseok, and Jiwoo were already there waiting when he arrived in the office.
Mr. Bang turned around in his chair, looking at the four with an unreasonable expression. "Well, now that we're all present, I can say what needs to be said."
You could hear a pin drop in the room. Yoongi swore that nobody was breathing, and he knew that nobody else had a single idea why they were here either.
"Look, I know this case is a big one." The CEO looked at Yoongi and Hoseok. "Especially you two. But, and I'm being honest here..."
Yoongi held his breath, as if he hadn't been doing that before.
"...the case isn't working out. We've focused a lot of time and energy into it, but we've barely made any moves. And all of the moves that you've made were completely behind my back."
"Right." Yoongi could tell that Hoseok was relieved that they weren't penalized yet. "We're sorry about that, Mr. Bang, but we have to keep working. We can't let someone innocent sit in prison for ten years. Minimum. He's missing out on the most important years of his life, and for us to know his innocence and not do a single thing must hurt."
"And when you bring back up the case and accidentally get him put on death row because you don't have enough evidence?"
Hoseok's eyes fell at that. Felix was 18 now, meaning that he was now eligible for the execution. And given the amount of murders that L.Y.B. made, that was highly likely. The CEO waited for a rebuttal, a comeback, anything, but it didn't come.
"That's why I've called you here. Unless you can find some new evidence in the next three days, this case will be closed. Unfortunately, the law won't just let you say he's innocent."
Yoongi, Hoseok, Soohyung, and Min nodded, bowing before they left.
