So Russia mentioned Hetalia once in a coversation with Italy, which made his interest centred on that thing that is similar to his name in his native tongue, Italia.
Hetalia is literally a combination of two words which means "Useless/Pathetic Italy", so I get his interest on why it sounds like his name.
Russia proceeded to explain what Hetalia is, which just gave more of Italy's attention because he wasn't aware that an anime surrounding Anthropomorphic Countries existed, with the Axis and Allies as the Main Characters, so that's that.
Then he hears that most of it is stereotypes, which made him think of the worst, "Incompetent Italy and Pasta", which was realised when Russia confirmed that Italy, both North and South, was like that.
Italy got a bit confused on why the North and South were seperate, but Russia explained why and yeaaaah- also mentioned the GerIta ship, alongside the fact that HRE might be Germany. Italy just blinked in confusion when Russia mentioned that, so he just... nodded.
And then he proceeded to post on his Twitter account that, cited from the tweet itself, "Hetalia is interesting". Since then on, he'd been diving deep into the fandom, and saw the awful fandom side of people shipping-
In conclusion, Italy's opinion on Hetalia is interest, fear, disappointment, confusion, and more fear.
