Her training began at dawn the next day. Mihawk wanted to gauge her ability with a sword and had her attack him. Obviously, it was like a cat batting away a mouse, but Mihawk agreed that she had the foundations down, she just needed to perfect them.
The first week was conditioning, running laps around his estate, and swinging swords for hundreds of reps. On the first day of her second week, Mihawk had her attack him again. Her moves were the same, just with more power and agility. He decided he could move on to more sword-fighting techniques.
The duo fell into a routine, conditioning in the morning, sword training after lunch, and haki training in the evening. Vienna learned she had a much stronger affinity for haki than sword fighting, but it was essential for her to safely travel the Grand Line. Mihawk did mention that she was improving at a faster rate than he anticipated.
About halfway through the second month, Vienna noticed that her observation haki was exponentially increasing, she could see several seconds into the future during a fight, basically read her opponent's emotions, and could see every living being within a mile of the estate. Mihawk had never met anyone with observation haki of this level. Ve's armament haki was strong enough to protect her in a fight and still seemed impressive to the average person. But with her observation haki and wings, she could dodge almost all attacks. Vienna found that the best use for her armament haki was on her wings and feet. When she could, Ve went without shoes, her observation haki amplified when in contact with the bare ground. Mihawk surmised that this was because of her solar heritage.
The warlord also helped Vienna train in hand-to-hand combat, but they found she was better with her legs than bare fists. Powerful kicks combined with her wings were enough to knock the monstrous monkeys on the island unconscious with one strike.
"You're making excellent progress, Vienna. You may retire for the night." Mihawk said after their afternoon of sword training,
"You're going somewhere?" Vienna asked, but it was more of a statement, Mihawk gave her a sharp nod,
"I plan on sailing out for a few days. The navy is already suspicious after my two-month disappearance. After today I will probably be traveling more often, leaving you to train on your own." Vienna nods, understanding. The last thing she wanted was the navy poking around looking for their missing warlord.
"Good night sensei! Have a safe trip!" With that Vienna retired to her bedroom. In the massive empty estate, she had her pick of room, and ended up choosing one down the hall of Mihawk's. The man definitely liked his privacy and alone time, and it took some getting used to for Vienna after growing up with Luffy and Ace.
Vienna made herself dinner in the cold kitchen, sitting by the stove, the room's only source of heat. After cleaning up and preparing for bed, Vienna reached out her senses to find Mihawk had already retired to his room for the night. He was probably planning on leaving in the early morning anyway.
In her room, Vienna sat on the floor to stretch while she read a book she found in Mihawk's library. She had scoured the room, when she first discovered it, for any information on solars. Anything she did find, she already knew, so she settled with reading about the Grand Line, especially the New World, and the World Government.
