Getting washing done at night was always better in Harry's opinion.

He didn't have his sweet girl attached to his side, he didn't have a million emails to read and he didn't have his phone up to his ear.

The house was quiet and it was peaceful.

Harry walked up the stairs, laundry basket in hand as he had an AirPod in only one of his ears, not wanting to play music in the house in case he woke River up from her slumber.

He used his hip to slowly push open her door more than it already was, prepared to just put her clean washing away and slip out again, but what he didn't expect was to see a light emitting from under the covers.

He created a cease in between his two eyebrows, frowning as he placed the basket down on the floor. Softly calling out his daughters name. "Riv?"

The ten year old girl removed the covers from over her head, eyes wide as she looked at her father.

Harry was stood wearing his silk pyjamas perfect for the cold weather in London due to it being near Christmas time and he stared at his little girl in disappointment.

"What are you doing pickle?"

She gulped. "— nothing, I swear!"

Harry sighed, running a hand through his hair as he moved forward so he was sat on the edge of her bed. "Well I hate to break it to you, but I can see the iPad screen flashing so something tells me you were playing on it"

It was eight fourth three and although it wasn't that late, River had always been a sleepy child, falling asleep everywhere.

In the car, on planes, I'm her fathers arms.

"I'm sorry daddy"she whispered, looking up at her father with tears wetting her water line.

She never wanted to disappoint her dad, but seeing the look on his face when he caught her issuing the iPad made her feel like a bad daughter.

He brought her closer to him by wrapping an arm around her figure, leaning down to press a kiss to her hair. "— hey hey pickle, no tears, it's okay but just promise me that you won't be doing this anymore, we don't want you tired tomorrow do we?"
