You've always been shit with children and yet you find yourself trying. Even though this little fucker has a hand in starting the cascade of family drama bullshit... you can't not raise him. You know he'll become the god of knowledge and wisdom but you find yourself telling him everything. Not anything really important, just... simple things.

You let him hold onto you as you teach him words, words from another world. Or perhaps this world but years into the future? You teach him the basics of math, one thing and one other thing together makes two things. You teach him about things that are yet to be, fish, animals, birds, humans. He himself is a bird, a little crane, your little ibis

Very slowly, you begin to love your Thoth, your... son. It's very awkward for you at first, you never really cared for this minor character. And yet here you are, sitting at the edge of nothing and combing your son's hair.

He's gotten bigger and you'd like to call him a teen but you have truly no idea how old he is, his body looking almost like his appearance in the comic. Time has been speeding up for you and it's been so long... you have noticed though that there is now air and moisture, a sky and now earth.

"Thoth... do you have anyone you like?"

He turns and looks at you.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, do you have anyone you have feelings for?"

He quickly turns away, pale face turning pink.

"I don't know what you're talking about!"

"Ah, but I thought I was the god of not knowing and you were the god of knowing. Did you switch our purposes~?"

You tease and chuckle, putting his head dress on. You know he can do it by himself but you like doing a few things for him still.

"Ugh, fine... I've been looking at... Maat."

Your grin drops. Right. Yes you knew who he liked and who he'd marry but... it's so close.

"What a nice choice... you have all my blessings."

"Wh- it's not like I am going to marry her! Though, I do want to..."

He confesses, leaning his head back into your lap. You just let him, his paleness contrasting strongly against the darkness you cloak yourself with.

"Then do it."

"B-but I am bad at romance! How will I ever approach her!?"

"...I'm sure you'll figure it out."

You give his head one last Pat before pushing against his shoulder. He sits up and you slowly grab his hand.

"Thoth... I have something I must tell you.... One day... I will not be here. Or anywhere. Not even in duat. Just know that.... I will always love you, as both mother and father. No matter what happens... you'll be okay."

"Why... why are you telling me this? You won't do anything to hurt yourself, right?"

You stay silent... before standing up and began to walk away. He stumbles as he stands up.

"Don't follow me Thoth. This is the way things must happen.... Go and find your friend, I'm sure you can practice your confession with her."

Thoth stood there, hands still outreaching as you walk away from him... He always knew you kept secrets from him, things even he could never know. He just... he wanted to know you'll be okay too.

You traveled, eventually coming to the place you knew her to be.

The sixthborn of Ra, god of catastrophe.
