You always knew you were different. You just... didn't know what to do about it. You can feel it, from every adult to every kid around you. Every adult calls you amazing or looks down at you with pity. Every kid calls you weird or annoying or special.

Are you special? Than why do you feel so sad?

You sit in the front, the teacher on your side, helping you specifically out with your writing today. You have a growing unease as you stare down at the paper.... You glance around the classroom to see if there is anyone here to judge you for getting help.

There are no desks. And this is no classroom.

You blink a couple of times.

"Khonsu? Are you alright? You're writing in that language again...."

You jolt for a moment and whip your head back. Oh no, you've written those squiggly and curly lines again!

"S-Sorry big brother"

Thoth just sighs and puts his hand over the mistake. Like magic, the ink lifts up into his hand. He takes out a particular scroll and puts it onto there. You think of it as your scroll of failure.

"Why do you always do that?"

"...I'll give it to you when you're older," He turns back and cups your face, with a gentle smile. "My father used to write the exact same language sometimes. Maybe one day, we'll both be able to read it."

You tear up as you hear that. You write like mother?

"But For now, we need you to be learning how to read and write our languages. You wanted to grow up and be a scholar, right?"

You can't help but beam. "Y-yes! Yes brother! I'll study hard and help you with the kaleinda!!"

"You mean calendar?"

Oh no, you made another mistake... you bite your lip as you start to tear up again. He frowns and scoops you up, plopping you into his lap.

"Now now, don't cry little brother. We all make mistakes. You must be tired, right?"

You nod, wiping away your tears.

"Alright then, you nap and then later I'll bring you down to see your cousins, alright?"

You smile and nod again, already nodding off.

"You mean brothers and sisters~"

"...sure."

He lifts you up as he stands and walks over to your room. Gently he slides you into your bed, the window open so you can stare into the night.

"I'll give you three hours. Sleep well little brother."

"...love you"

"...I love you too."
