Chapter Eight - Called it.

Hopper promised not to tell my Dad about the fight at the station about Billy, but he swore this was the last time he would cover for me. I called Steve's house, but he didn't answer even after everything today, we need to find the others to fill them in about the trailer, and that's when I knew exactly where he would be. I slammed my door and ran to the Wheelers as fast as possible. I need to learn how to drive, I thought to myself.

Ms Wheeler let me in, and I raced down the stairs to the basement. All eyes on me as I came hurdling in. Steve sat on the sofa with everyone standing around him, listing the whole party, Robin, Jonathan and Nancy, too. Mike had radioed a code red after hearing Steve explain the trailer.

"Oh my god, Steve," I say in a soft low voice his face was clear to see now as the lamp next to him lit it up. He sat with a black eye and a split lip. Nancy hands him more frozen peas. "Y/n, do you know what happened to him? He won't tell us anything about why he looks like hell." Nancy asked me, "worse than hell", Dustin chimes in. Before I speak, Steve does, "Can we just focus on the plan, please" he takes the bag of peas off his eye and throws them on the coffee table.

"It's my shot, dipshit" Billy pushes his friend out of the way and lines his cue up. After today's drama, Billy thought the best place to be was The Hideaway, drinking and playing pool. Harassing the other patrons as soon as they walked through the door. Billy was on his worst behaviour sporting a cut eyebrow and fresh blood still on his face, a bruise just forming under his jaw. Billy and his garage band of brothers were playing only Motley Crue and Led Zeppelin as loud as the jut box would let them, swearing and roughhousing. The waitress had warned them a few times, but they would only laugh at her. "Well, look who it is," Billy says, not even looking behind him as he can feel Hopper behind him. He sips his beer, Hopper and Officer Y/L/N stands around Billy and his Boys. "Time to wrap it up, boys, you have been asked to leave." Officer Y/L/N speaks with authority with his hands on his belt; the boys all turn and look at each other smirking.

"Yeah, that's not going to happen" Billy shoots a pool ball, getting it into the pocket as he moves around the pool table. Officer Y/L/N puts his hand on Billy's shoulder to usher him out. "You better get your fucking hand off me," Billy spits through his teeth. Hopper steps in before Billy is put in his place. He moves Billy away from the boys and Officer Y/L/N. "One, you shouldn't be in here; two, after today, you really shouldn't be in here and three, you don't know who that is, do you?" Hopper states.

Billy smirks like he has a death wish, "I suggest you leave; take the trash out with you." Hopper points to the rough garage boys. "Yeah and if we don't?" Billy gets in Hopper's face. Officer Y/L/N steps in, pushing Billy back.

Back in the basement, everyone paces, thinking of ways to get rid of the upside down or how it got there in the first place. "Maybe it's just parts of it coming back, you know, like a virus ", Mike says, pacing and looking at El like she has all the answers. "I don't think so", El shakes her head. "But you can just walk into it and out of it?" Max asks for what feels like the hundredth time. "Yes!" an annoyed Steve answers.

"Maybe it's like an upside down aftershock, you know, like with earthquakes." Robin looks at a few books as she sits next to Steve. Will, Lucas and Dustin flick through some books having no luck. "We all give our theories talking over each other, but Steve doesn't give me the time of day. We bicker any time we talk to each other "why are you here? shouldn't you be somewhere else" he is implying something. Robin pips up from her place on the sofa. "Okay have I missed something? because you two have been acting so strange, and I'm sick of it, Y/n I hardly see you anymore where suppose to be best friends what aren't you telling me?"

"Robin, we are; it's just, I um", I hesitate, looking around. "Steve?" Robin looks at Steve and me, waiting. We both don't answer.

"You know what forget it." She storms up the stairs, but with her foot on the third step, a loud bang makes everyone jump, and Robin hurries back down the steps.
