Chapter Ten - Cafeteria status.

I follow my Dad down our front steps as he walks towards Billy's car. Hopper leans on the beam pulling out a cigarette. "This ought to be good," he smirks, and I shoot daggers at him. Billy seeing my Dad walking towards him, steps out of the car and walks to meet him. I stand beside Billy and speak first before anything is said. "Dad, this is Billy." Billy puts his hand out, but my Father doesn't shake it. "Oh, I know who you are, son; the question is, why are you parked in my driveway? Billy looks at me and then at Hopper. Hopper is loving this.

"I, uh, I'm taking your daughter to school". I nod. My Father looks at Billy more so through him, and Billy starts to sweat, and then he looks at me. "Doesn't Steve take you to school"? I stutter as I speak, "yes, but um, just he's busy today, so." Hopper moves from his place and walks up to my Father with a firm hand on his back "come on; we better get going," he says to my Dad as he walks towards the patrol car.

I open Billy's passenger door and stand half in as Billy goes to walk away. My Father, out of sight, grabs his arm and leans in real close. "You take her to school today, and that's it. I Don't want to see you or that car anywhere near my daughter or this house do you understand me?" Billy lowers his demeanour "Yes, sir."

Billy pulls out of the driveway and doesn't say a word. It's silent for a while. "What did he say?" I ask, looking at Billy, but he doesn't look at me. "Steves, busy?"

"What" I question him wondering why he didn't answer me.

"You couldn't tell him why I was really there?"

"You saw him; there's no way. I have to ease him into it; give him time to get to know you." Billy looks at me and scoffs.

Meanwhile, in Hopper's patrol, my Father expresses his concern, Hopper needs all the information and they delight in being protective, "I saw the look on Billy's face, the same one Mike wore when I told him to back off El." Hopper smirks.

"I told him to never step foot around my Daughter again." My Father talks like his a mastermind, but when he looks at Hopper's face, his proven wrong.

"Aw, dude, you should not have done that." Hopper looks straight ahead.

"Why?" my worried Father questions.

"Seriously, you have just sent him off with her. You don't think he will tell her on the way to school what you said.

"So?" my Fathers confused.

"So, you have just made her want him more; hell, I won't be surprised if she's pregnant by lunchtime."

"I will shoot you in this car", My Father only half jokes back.

"Look, I'm just saying the more you push, the more they will fight you. You have to have an open, honest discussion about boundaries."

My Father was not convinced "shut up, just drive."

It's quiet again, but I refuse to leave it alone I can see Billy's mind turning like his overthinking.

"Billy come on, what did you want me to do?"

"Tell him, tell him I'm your guy."

"And what have him shoot you right there."

Billy shrugs "so, it's better than this. He's not stupid, Y/n; he knew why I was there. and the way he just wished I was Harrington." I cut him off

"We are not starting this again", I huff at him, looking him straight on as we pull into the school car park.

"Harrington can take you home, okay." Billy pulls a cigarette out, lighting it in the car.

"What, why?" he doesn't answer me. "Billy!" I yell at him, "just leave it, Y/n, okay." Billy gets out his door, and I do mine slamming it shut; he looks at me like, is she serious?

"Fine," I say. "Fine", he looks at me, his pissed off, I can tell. Steve, Robin, Nancy, and Jonathan stand near Steve's car, watching us and talking between themselves. I walk away, and he watches me as I get to the group. He turns and heads towards the school. "Trouble in paradise?" Robin asks, "Don't even get me started." I half fake a smile as we all begin to walk into school together.

"Look, I'm just saying if you listen to the old stuff compared to what they play now, it's obvious they have lost that musical talent." Steve pushes his food around as he talks to Jonathan. "No way, R.E.M have; if anything, found their sound",. Jonathan speaks with convection Nancy and I roll our eyes "Hey, uh can we talk." Billy's voice makes us all look his way he stands, arms folded.

I nod my head and stand; we walk away from the table "You sure you want to talk here? People can see us," I sarcastically say as I nod my head towards his table. He leans on the wall. Pulling my hands in so I'm placed between his legs. "I'm sorry about this morning", I interrupt him. "Billy, just tell me what my Dad said" Billy pulls me closer. "It doesn't matter. I don't want to do this, though, to watch you at that table. I want you to sit with me," I side-eye him. "You want me to sit with Tommy and Carol and the garage shop boys?"

He shrugs. "If you want to, not every day we can sit at your table too, but you're my Girl, and they need to know that", he smirks, and I wish I could resist it, but the smile that creeped out onto my face would prove otherwise.

Holding my hand, we walked over to the table. Billy sat and moved over my invitation to sit down. The conversation at the table stopped, but Billy didn't say anything he turned his body and spoke to me, "well, what's this then?" Tommy smirked and leans his body forward, the other boys following suit, and Tina looked like a dead fish. "This is Y/n, my girlfriend, so", he playfully shooed his hands at the boys. They nodded their heads and continued their conversations like nothing happened. Tina stood up, storming away. "Don't worry about her, she's just." Carol smiled at me, half finishing her sentence. "A bitch", Tommy chimed in.

"So, how long has this been going on?" Carol asked me like we had been best friends for years. I knew better than to fall for it, but I did want to be polite and make an effort. I looked back at my friends, and Robin smiled at me.

Robin turned her head back "do we worry about this?"

Steve shrugged. "Nah, Y/n knows who they are she won't fall for anything, and Billy wouldn't let her. He practically owns Tommy."

"Wow, standing up for Billy, aww, does Steve have a new friend." Robin teases.
