Chapter 13: Fever Dreams

On a second glance at his younger sibling Shu could detect that Subru had tied a piece of cloth over his nose and mouth to avoid catching too much of Trisha's blood and additionally held his breath.

"Goddammit Shu!" his brother hissed dodging Shu's snapping attempts to bite his brother, like a gone wild dog. His brother really had gone feral and even Subaru, with his strength, had trouble holding his brother in place.

Thankfully Reiji had enlightened Subaru about Shu's defiance to stay away from Trisha and had ordered Subaru to keep an eye out.

Subaru was on the balcony of the human room when he heard the frustrated yells from Trisha coming from the bathroom. Of course Shu snuck up on her there, he loved doing that to every human pet they had so far. But when everything went quiet and the scent of blood emerging from the bathroom got stronger Subaru had the suspicious fear that even Shu wasn't able to contain his lust for blood.

It took some punches from Subaru to knock out his feral brother and soon, he had both idiots, Trisha and Shu passed out on the bathroom floor. Looking at them he signed and frustratedly put his knife away, glad that he didn't actually have to use it against Shu for he tolerated him more than the rest of his siblings.

Turning off the water of the shower, Subaru then proceeded to drag Shu onto his shoulders dragging his brother out of the room, leaving Trisha behind, not wanting to spend another minute being exposed to her blood afraid he might go as feral as Shu did. Ripping off the clough from his mouth he spat out a piece of garlic he'd been chewing on. The taste was disgusting but it helped cover up the smell of blood. Once he'd reached the second floor, he was finally able to breathe again.

Dropping off Shu at the entrance area, as far aways from the 3rd floor as he could, he then headed to Reiji's room to inform him of what had happened. Still cursing to himself while rushing to the first floor he bummed into Yui, his least hated person in this goddamn mansion. Never in his life did he think of being glad to see a human more than now.

Though he didn't want to admit it, having to intervene between Shu's attempt in biting Trisha, while being exposed to that brunette's sweet scent did take a toll on the albino boy. Smelling the rosy and untainted scent of Yui did calm him down a little. It always did, even if he didn't want to admit it.

Almost dropping the silverplate with tea and biscuits the girl had prepared for Reiji, Yui looked up at Subaru, startled by his urgency.

"S-Subaru? What is wrong?" the human asked worryingly, placing the silver platter away to attend to the albino boy who looked paler than usual.

Subaru took a hold of the confused girl, grabbing her shoulder and looking her dead in the eye.

"Your fucking human friend was stupid enough to let her guard down around Shu. She's laying on her bathroom floor unconscious. I need you to go make sure that she is fine and clean up her fucking blood for me, will you."

Yui's face became as pale as snow as she'd heard so and Subaru could see the sudden flash of panic and worry wash over the girl. "He bit her?!" She squeaked, covering her mouth in shock. But Subaru shook her head "Not quite, but he was close..."

'...and so was I'

he added in his head as he then pulled in Yui clorser taking a deep breath of her scent before letting her go to check on the other silly human. Despite having Yui around it didn't help covering up all the intoxicating remains of Trisha's blood and Subaru cursed himself for drifting off daydreaming about what he could have done to the burnett as she laid there on the bathroom floor. This girl needed to leave this mansion one way or another, before yet another prey fell victim to the horrors of this mansion.
