Chapter six

I was finishing up the last five minute of our run around the border, sniffing and making sure the territory was heavily guarded as the others weed out the inside rogues. Though running like the wind for four hours is actually the minimal exercise a werewolf need per day. Whether just to relieve some tension or a morning jog, a wolf needs a good exercise.

Results of my not-so-angry-anymore-as-to-peeved mate’s hasty decision, I was by no means to encounter a rogue tête-à-tête, he insisted I called for back up. But we both know, I’m not going to follow his orders. I just nod and smile, keep the alpha in him happy and go off doing my own thing.

I ran in my wolf form to Chad’s house, I told Grace to stay there till I picked her up. Like she would say no, hey? I bet she would scowl at me for being early. I was rather large in my black wolf form, so I pressed the doorbell with my paw easily. Though I had quite a hard time squeezing myself on the porch.

“Coming.” The door opened and Chad smiled at me, wearing nothing but shorts. I rolled my wolf eyes, he’s lucky there’s no innocent children walking around at night or teenage girls for that matter.

“Ace’s here!” He called out.

He stepped out along with Grace and closed the door behind him, still in his short for your information.

“My turn at rounds duty.” He answered my silent question when I tilt my head to the side. I barked at Grace to shift and run to her house together. She flicked my wolf ear and I growled at her, no one messes with my sensitive wolf ears.

“Oh chill, Miss I’m a big bad wolf. Just messing with you.” She giggled and shifts into her brown red wolf.

‘See you later ladies, mind link if you miss me.' Chad’s wolf winked and he immediately disappeared behind the trees.

‘I don’t know what you see in him’ I gave her a pointed look.

‘You mean what I don’t want to see on him.’ She purred, obviously hinting at his boxers earlier.

‘Get you mind out of the gutter woman.’

‘No way, my mind is clawing and screaming it’s way back into the gutter, thank you very much.’ She playfully nudged my shoulder and ran ahead of me. ‘The last one there is a rotten wolf!’

I immediately ran after her, my paws thumping onto the damp forest soil as the familiar sensation of air tickled my sensitive nose. The rhythmic thumping of our paws echoed in the forest with the birds and other wild life scattered away from us in frenzy. Those that were smart hid and stayed silent of our approach.

I was content just tagging behind Grace that was until I smell the familiar stench.

A Rogue.

I halted, spewing the soil forward at my sudden stop. ‘Ace?’
