Chapter sixteen

Richard’s POV (yes, its finally here!)

It was hard enough to control this incredible urge to find Alice, shut her in a cave and live there with her forever but it was harder when my wolf is getting out of control inside of me. I—I just miss her so much, love her so much…there’s no other way to describe this wholesome feeling.

I love Alice so much; its true and now I can’t even say it to her without the responsibilities of an alpha weighing me down.

The top packs members had just left my office, those fucking son of a bitches. Their words keep swirling through my mind; they had the fucking never to insist banishment on Alice.

Though, I understand why they said that. They didn’t know Alice is my true mate and in their point of view I had royally screwed up and the worst thing is, they won’t hold me responsible. Meaning, Alice will suffer the fall.

“You better do it if you don’t want her harmed.” Delilah was leaning against the doorway, looking depressed as always.

“No, I won’t let her be treated like that.” I fumed, slamming my fist on the desk. Delilah flinched from the suddenness.

“Then let me go.” She said, hugging herself as if she was cold.

“What do you mean?” She smiled at me sadly.

“I’m not your mate Ric, we both knew that this was a marriage of convenience. I was mateless for a long time and you haven’t found your mate. It was a great deal but now you found her and I don’t have your mark anymore. Sooner or later the pack is going to find out. Alice didn’t do anything wrong but the pack is going to treat her like the lowest member of the pack.”

Delilah sighed and I was shocked to know that she knew Alice is my true mate.

“I’ve been thinking and I’m okay with it but let me keep full custody of Robby. He’s my everything. I was happy being married to you but now I want to live my own life. I’ve been thinking of travelling? It’s a dream of mine. You just be happy with Alice, she’s a nice girl. She had a tough time after Fiona and Sean died, I want you both to be happy, together.”

“Do you hate me?” I asked and Delilah shrugged.

“Honestly? Yes, at first. For leaving me alone and choosing another but then I realised something, I got too comfortable. I know you have a mate out there and since we got married I would always worry over it but now after twenty years, you never found her and it got me feeling too comfortable.”

I didn’t say a word, it was too fragile of a moment. It had come to this, choosing between the woman I’m married to twenty years or Alice, the one I love more than the whole world.

“I’ll support you, don’t worry about money.” She smiled a bit happier and it shows in her eyes.

“No, I know how to support myself, I’ll only accept Robby’s half for his education and living expense. I’m starting anew and that means if I have to work then I’ll do whatever it takes. Don’t worry about me. Start worrying about yourself.”
