After eating the cake and sort of abruptly leaving the cafe, you sullenly lead Cassette Girl out of the cafe. You didn't have to pay, since it was her 'birthday celebration', but you still felt very upset. The night was supposed to last longer, you had envisioned yourself and Ukiyo lingering over your mugs for hours, talking and laughing together, but it seems like things didn't go to plan.
Not at all.
Kassetto was humming cheerfully as you walked back to her apartment, and you tried to be as content as she was, but you couldn't.
You led her up the stairs to her apartment, and said how you had fun, trying to adopt a nonchalant, cheerful attitude.
It didn't seem to work, though, as Ukiyo turned around after unlocking her door, and sighed, pulling you inside and shutting the door.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" she asked gently.
You initially said nothing was wrong, but she continued to pressure you until you admitted that the night hadn't gone the way you had hoped, shaking some confetti out of your hair. You apologized to Cassette Girl. About how you couldn't find a taxi. About the sudden surprise. About the confetti. About the quick ending.
She laughed.
"Y/N, are you crazy?" she giggled. "Tonight was awesome!"
You were shocked. She smiled.
"It was really fun. The cafe, the walk to and from, everything. Even though the date ended a little shortly, it doesn't mean that tonight wasn't a blast."
She took both of your hands in hers. Your heartrate picked up. You both stood there in the dim silence of her living room, the only light coming from the balcony window.
"...Didn't I tell you that I didn't care what we did as long as we did it together?" she asked quietly, squeezing your hands gently. You nodded, your mouth a bit parched.
She inched a little closer. "I meant what I said. Tonight was really fun. Thank you, Y/N."
You were about to reply, when suddenly she leaned in, her lips now on yours. You let out a small noise of surprise, your face burning hot, but eased into the kiss a moment afterward, pulling her closer to you by the hips.
The kiss lingered for a while longer until you broke the kiss for air. You caught your breath, feeling tingly all over. Her kiss...it felt like static. Perhaps zapped you a little. But it felt nice.
"...I've...wanted to do that for a long time now." Kassetto admitted, giggling meekly. You replied with nothing but a sheepish grin.
She led you onto her balcony. Ukiyo lived on one of the higher floors of the apartment complex, and she had an amazing view of the city. Tonight, for some reason, it looked even nicer. CG wrapped her cool, metallic arms around you in a hug, her cassette-player hat playing a soft, beautiful melody.
"Thank you for tonight, Y/N. I love you."
You looked up at the stars and thanked them for fulfilling your wish.
The stars twinkled down at you.
A/N: Thank you all so much for reading this book! Yes, I know it was quite short, but I really had fun writing this! I hope you all enjoyed your little date with Cassette Girl. Goodbye!
