I tried to support Hanzo, despite my own wound, and help him walk as upright as he could. We tried to follow Genji, who was walking quickly towards the exit. "Listen Y/n, I know you must have a lot of questions and I-" I immediately interrupted Hanzo. Of course I had many questions that he obviously owed me an answer to, but this was neither the right place nor the right time for them. "You can explain everything to me when we get home, but let's get out of here first.". Hanzo was silent and merely gave me a slight nod. "Coming home is a thing though..." Genji suddenly said as we neared the exit. I looked at him confused. "I'll take you with me to the Overwatch base...I can't allow Hanzo to return to the Shimada clan.". I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I felt betrayed. I trusted him to help me and Hanzo get back home. Hanzo, however, didn't seem surprised, he wasn't particularly surprised by what his brother had said, but it seemed like he already suspected something like that. I stopped and Genji now turned to us. "How can I be sure they won't hurt Hanzo there?" I asked and got a puzzled look from Hanzo. "They want Hanzo in the team, he would be a great help to us. His wounds would be taken care of so that he would recover quickly." Genji said and looked at his brother who was holding himself up with one arm over my shoulder. "That would certainly be in your interest too.." he said and looked at me. I looked at Hanzo, who was grimacing in pain. I knew that if we followed Genji, it would be the end of the Shimada clan. But I couldn't let Hanzo die from his wounds and the sooner he recovered the better. I just wanted to make sure, he would recover quickly. I was about to give Genji an answer when I reminded myself I was in no position to make such decisions. "Genji I don't know. I-" I couldn't go any further because Hanzo cut me off. "It's okay...we're coming with you...". Neither Genji nor I expected this answer because we both looked at him. "Just get me out of here." Hanzo gasped in pain. Genji and I exchanged a quick look before we continued to get out of the base.
To my amazement, we got out of the base without any problems. "Our taxi is already here." Genji said jokingly, pointing to the plane that had landed on the grass behind the base. I looked at Genji confused. "You didn't think we could have gotten in and out without help. While we were getting Hanzo out, a team from Overwatch infiltrated the base." he explained while putting an arm around Hanzo's back to help me support him. We slowly walked towards the plane and when we finally arrived, we carefully set Hanzo down. Hanzo groaned in pain, and it hurt me to see him like that and I wish I could do anything to take his pain away. "Hold on a second brother, Dr. Ziegler will help you as soon as we arrive at the base." Genji said and walked towards the cockpit where a woman was sitting. I stayed with Hanzo and knelt in front of him to get a better look at his face. I tried to forget my own pain as Hanzo was my only priority right now. I studied his face with concern and didn't even notice how Hanzo looked into mine. "You could have died." he mumbled as our eyes met. I smiled sadly and put my hand on his. "You're safe again, and that was worth every risk to me." We kept eye contact, enjoying the silence around us. "Thanks." Hanzo said quietly after a while, giving me a faint smile as he placed his hand on my cheek. "I just wished that I could've kept my promise." He said weakly, stroking my cheek with his thumb. We stayed like that for a while when Genji suddenly snapped us out of our moment. "Sit down, we're about to fly back." he said when he came back. He sounded a bit colder than before and sat down in a seat across from us without saying anything else. I sat down next to Hanzo. Nobody said a word during the flight, only the pilot tried to lift our moods a bit. "You don't seem that talkative." she said in a voice that was quite high but sounding nice. "But that's probably because today was such an exhausting day.". After that she didn't say anything more and before we knew it, we had already arrived.
I helped Hanzo get up and walk. We followed Genji who showed us the way to the infirmary where finally someone would take care of our wounds. Genji knocked on a door which was opened only a few seconds later. A blonde haired woman stuck her head out through the door and smiled warmly when she spotted Genji. But this disappeared quite quickly when she saw Hanzo and me. "You warned me I would have a lot of work to do when you got back, I was just hoping it might not have hit him so badly." she said softly and eyed Hanzo. She stepped aside and let us into the room, where she helped me bring Hanzo to a lounger. Hanzo sat down and gritted his teeth against the pain. I took a seat on a lounger across from him.
The woman helped Hanzo remove his top to get a better look at his injuries. I eyed Hanzo carefully. Deep wounds adorned his stomach and back, some were fresh but some were older and already trying to heal. While I was watching the woman treating Hanzo, Genji had also brought me a doctor to take care of my wound. I sat down with my back to the two brothers so that I could take off my top without both of them getting to see too much. I put my top down next to me and noticed someone take it away. Puzzled, I turned my head back slightly and saw Genji holding it. "I'll get you something clean to wear." he said embarrassed and left. I looked a little further behind me and saw Hanzo glaring at Genji with an angry look. The doctor, who was a bit older than the one treating Hanzo, looked at my wound and without saying much she started to clean it. I hissed out in pain as the disinfectant burned on my wound. But just a few moments later my wound was bandaged.
And then Genji was back and put a shirt next to me, which I put on immediately. I turned back to see Hanzo getting his wounds stitched up. His face twisted slightly with each stitch, but his eyes were always on me. Genji sat next to me on the lounger, whereupon I caught a small smile from the doctor and another angry look from Hanzo. "How do you feel?" Genji asked me with a bit of concern in his voice.
I looked at him and gave him a weak smile.
"I would say I'm fine given the circumstances." I said and continued to look at Hanzo, whose wounds were almost completely treated. Genji nodded to give me a sign that he had noticed my answer. When the doctor was done, she gave Hanzo a small smile and then turned to Genji and me. "Genji, I need your help with something, could you come with me for a moment?" she asked in a lovely voice. Genji followed her and they both left us alone in the room. Hanzo and I stayed silent for a while before I finally dared to say something. "How are you?" I asked cautiously, studying Hanzo's expression and hoping I could make sense of what he was thinking. "Better I would say." he said looking into my eyes with a slight smile. "But I'm not really over the shock you gave me there." he said with a little chuckle, which made me smile slightly. "But you also gave me a shock when you didn't come home." I said, looking at the floor while fiddling with my fingers nervously. There was silence between us for a while until Hanzo spoke again. "I know you must have many questions about Genji and what happened back then. I promise I will tell you everything, even if you will probably judge me for it.". I heared how ashamed he was and how uncomfortable this topic was for him. "Let's talk about that later. When we know we'll have some time to ourselves.." I said, giving hanzo a small smile. Of course I was afraid of the conversation, of what he would tell me. Just as Hanzo was about to say something, the doctor came back in, followed by Genji. "Unfortunately, the commander can't talk to you today, but Genji can show you to your dorm." she said with a smile "we assumed that since you are married it would be ok for you to share a dorm. If not we can certainly do something about it." she added. Hanzo and I looked at each other, probably expecting that the other would say something against the shared dorm, but neither I nor he said anything. So we followed Genji who gave us a short tour around the base. Then he showed us our dorm. "Here this is your dorm, if there's anything, my dorm is down the hall." he said pointing in the direction of his dorm. After that he left us both alone. So there we were, Hanzo and I, in front of our shared dorm. We had never shared a dorm or something like that before, and to be honest I was a bit afraid of it. Hanzo opened the door and let me in. We looked around in the room and quickly saw the double bed. Hanzo must have noticed my nervous look because he immediately said, "I can also ask for another room..." and I noticed how sad he sounded. "No, that's fine, we've just never shared a room." I answered him and sat down on the bed to continue looking around the room. "I don't think that will be too much of a problem." he said smiling and sat down next to me. Again we were silent for a while and I found myself constantly thinking about what kind of conversation still layed ahead of us. "Would it be okay if we had that conversation now?" I asked cautiously and looked at the floor. I didn't want to see the expression on Hanzo's face. I heard him sigh and after a short silence he started to tell me everything. Everything down to the smallest detail. What happened then, why he did it, how much he despised himself for it and could never forgive himself. And how sorry he was for taking a loved one from me.
