I am the poppy in a field of daisies. I am the odd one out, in a crowd of people I am the one who people stare at with frowns on their faces.
And in the field, I am the flower that is plucked from the ground, not because I am pretty but to fix the oddness that I create. Like when you see a single blue bathroom tile in a room of white bathroom tiles.
It arises a frustration and anger in people that just want to correct it and make it symmetrical, make it normal.
What they fail to realize is I too want to do the same, to myself. Remove the things that give people a reason to frown and stare at But the thing is, I was born a poppy and even in the seed I was a poppy, I was always going to be a poppy and not a daisy. I could pluck the poppy petals but I'd still be a poppy.
