Today, the doors opened to reveal not the guests, but a boy. A small boy in Ouran Elementary's School uniform. When he saw what was inside, the kid stumbled back and fell to the ground with a gasp.
"Oh, it's just a kid."
"Not only that, it's just a boy."
Yukino sighed. 'How does an abandoned music room attract so many unsuspecting people?'
Deep in the role of his "Arabian King" character, Tamaki extended one hand. "What's wrong, little boy? Did you come to my palace in search of something?"
Standing up, the little boy blinked. "Are you the king of this place?"
As Tamaki blinked back, Yukino twitched. "Oh, no..."
"Well, are you?"
"Come closer, lost one." At Tamaki's request, the boy stepped forward. "What was it you just called me, little boy?"
"The king."
Thinking back to our first chapter, one can imagine how thrilled that title would make him. Seeing as Tamaki's clubmates only referred to him as King to mock him, hearing someone do it genuinely was bound to make his day.
Sparkling in delight, Tamaki shot out of his seat with starry eyes. "Ah, the king! Yes, I am the king of the Ouran Host Club! Long live the Host King!"
Haruhi and Yukino mirrored deadpans.
"I'm an elementary fifth year in class A; Shiro Takaoji!" The boy pointed at Tamaki. "I want the Host Club King to take me on as an apprentice!"
Staring at the boy, Tamaki set his hands on his cheeks with a gasp. But Yukino blanched.
"This is going to be a bad week, isn't it?"

Strange things happened to this group all the time. A little boy wanting Tamaki of all people to mentor him was just another of those strange things. Still, Yukino couldn't figure out what exactly was Shiro's goal here.
...And she also wasn't sure about Tamaki's method for helping him reach that goal.
While entertaining Tsubaki Kamigamo, he had Shiro sit right next to them to watch. The boy was leaning close to stare intently at their interaction, and yet they were continuing on as if he wasn't even there.
Watching them alongside Yukino and Kyoya, Haruhi deadpanned. "Don't you think it's weird that he's making the kid observe him up close like that?"
""Weird" seems to apply to far too many situations in here." Yukino sighed.
"There is a theory that people are considered more beautiful the closer they're viewed." Kyoya said. "Tamaki seems to live by that theory."
Tamaki stared into Kamigamo's eyes. "Dearest, you're the mermaid who's brought light into my lonely sea. My mermaid princess."
