"No matter what may change,"

Summer break reached its end as quickly as always. You might not be surprised to learn that Yukino always dreads the return to school. Mostly because it means the end of sleeping past noon every day. Partly because it means spending her afternoons with the walking headaches she calls her friends and club mates for some reason.

Autumn was on its way. Yukino could feel that the sweater weather would once again be upon them. In a matter of weeks, the green leaves would become crimson and the warm weather would come closer to that of winter.

But before all that, Ouran Academy had to host their annual school festival.

"I can't believe I got stuck working with her! This must be karma or something!"

Following her down the top floor halls, Kazukiyo Soga blinked at the back of Sorano Hayashi's head. "Karma? For what?"

"How should I know?!" She huffed. "I've done a lot of things in my life, and not all of them have been good! Is there really nothing you can do about these assignments?"

He smiled weakly. "Not really. You, Yukino, and Fujioka were chosen as the best three to come up with cases. Is it really that big of a deal? I mean..."

Glancing to his left, he looked at Yukino, who was walking beside him with her eyes on her phone.

"Yukino doesn't seem to mind all that much."

Sorano scowled. "When does she ever care about anything?"

Even still, Yukino didn't look up. "I'll mention that I can hear you. But no, I don't particularly care about this."

"Whatever." Catching sight of her boyfriend up ahead, Sorano perked visibly. "Haru!"

And so, as she often did with her easily distracted mind, Sorano forgot all about them and rushed to catch up with Haru Aoki. Upon reaching his side, she beamed brightly at him with a smile that he returned.

Kazukiyo sweatdropped yet again. "She got over that pretty quickly..."

"That's Sorano for you. She's always been like this."

"Well, you're not wrong there." He smiled weakly again.

"Ah, Yukino." When they turned, they found Kyoya coming up behind them on his way to music room #3. "I was hoping to run into you. I need a moment."

She blinked. "Sure, Senpai."

Kazukiyo turned to point down the hall. "I'll leave you two, then."

After a polite nod to Kyoya, he parted from them. When Yukino turned back to the second-year, he was reaching into the pocket of his bag. And he took out an open envelope to hand to her. "I want you to see something."
