Words are like water
brimming buckets
and droplets
that cling to umbrellas and coats
and frost over time
when the world becomes a little too cold
words like water
overflow and flood
words that cleanse
and are too harsh
and are deadly
and feel smart
a sip or two;
refreshes
nurtures
and digresses
nervous sweat
impure
yet healthy
words that cluster
and puddle
at your feet
tears
that stream
minuscule hurt
that seemed too late
now obscure
these words
are two oceans that meet;
the clear and bubbly;
the salty and sweet;
are not all too ugly
because water can't break you
when others want it
to ultimately save you.
