Sleep come quick
Put out the fire in my chest
Lay down my thoughts to rest
remind myself this life is only a test
Sleep come quick
Let the firefly bite inside my ear
one last time
to remind of the kind things I hear
Sleep come quick
So I can avoid
what I've destroyed
and fill that empty void
Sleep come quick
the guilt will numb down
all that pain can bear
I can't shut out
Sleep come quick
and come oh so fast
because when I wake up
the future will have erased the past
And that's all I hope,
with a blanket and pillow
the slippers beside my bed
to let go the rope and race of life
just so that I may rest.
