—Dani's POV—
I woke up in an unfamiliar room. Everything was mostly white with some black and red accents to the room. I took in my surrounds and noticed a man in the corner wearing a lab coat and glasses. He's doing something on a computer.
"Where am I?" I asked as I tried to sit up but couldn't due to the amount of pain I just realized I'm in.
"Oh hey, you're awake. You are in the Avengers med bay room. I'm Bruce, it's nice to finally out a voice to your face." He said and walked over to check the monitors I'm hooked up to.
"What happened? I mean... I know what happened but how did I get here?" I asked. I know Clint practically lives here but I'm not sure if he wants everyone to know about me. He knows what I can do. He's the one who saw it the first time it happened. He helped me relax and find something to channel that energy into.
"Oh, one of our guys found you in an alley and brought you here. He didn't want to leave you alone out there. I'm fact, he's been asking about you all morning." Bruce said and smiled shyly.
"How long have I been out?" I asked, not noticing a clock anywhere. He checked his watch briefly before answering.
"Right now it is 4pm but you were brought here last night with blood still dripping from your face. I gave you a sedative last night to help you rest so... I would say a little under 24 hours." He answered and handed me my phone from a counter behind him.
16 missed calls from Clint along with 30 texts from him. He's the only person I talk to. I don't know who my mother was, never have. And I don't even know if my father is alive.
"Oh shit. I should probably respond to these. My best friend Clint must be worried." I said and opened his messages to respond to him.
"Wait... Clint? As is Clint Barton?" He asked, staring at me quizzically.
"Yeah, why?" I set my phone down and looked up at him.
"Just a moment." He said and walked out. I could hear chatter not far from the room I'm in before someone ran through the doors.
"Oh my god, Dani!" Clint came rushing to my side.
"I knew I should have came in here last night to see who Bucky brought in. I had a bad feeling something happened when you weren't responding. You don't ever not respond back." He said, brushing a few strands of hair from my face.
"How did this happen? I knew I shouldn't have left you." He asked, sitting on the edge of the bed beside me.
"All I really remember is obviously what happened but it was dark out and someone grabbed me by the throat and beat the shit out of me in the alley. I honestly thought I was dead cause I blacked out." I said, rubbing the side of my head.
"Hey... you didn't.. you know.." he said quietly, referring to my abilities.
"Oh, no. I try to never use that. You know that. It terrifies me too much to think of the destruction I could cause." I said and placed my hand on top of his.
"I'm just so glad you're awake. Hey, Bucky has been waiting for you to wake up. Would it be okay if he came in to meet you? He did save you." He asked, glancing at the door. I nodded and he adjusted the bed for me so I could be in a sitting position. He walked out of the room and when he came back, a man walked in behind him. Short dark brown hair, roughly 6ft tall, wearing black jeans, black boots, a T-shirt and a jean jacket. The one thing that stood out though. The metal hand. Black and gold. Clint had mentioned before that their newest member had a vibranium metal arm. This must be him.
"Hey, I'm Bucky. It's nice to finally meet you." He said as he took a seat next to the bed. I couldn't stop staring. He was pretty. His smile intoxicating. His eyes so easy to get lost in.
"I'm Daniella, but you can call me Dani. Thank you for saving me. I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't found me." I said and wanted so badly to reach out and shake his hand but couldn't when I realized the brace on my wrist.
"How much of me is broken?" I said, making a joke of it.
"You've got a fractured wrist, a couple broken ribs, and the cut on your face. Nat got you changed and your ribs all wrapped up but Bruce sewed up your face. We didn't want you to be uncomfortable with a bunch of random men seeing you so vulnerable." Bucky said, smiling weakly.
"Lovely." I said sarcastically, letting my head fall back to the bed and instantly regretting it.
"Ow." I breathed and rubbed my head again.
"Yeah you likely have one hell of a headache." Clint said, and got up to check the monitors.
"So who all saw me naked last night then? Cause I remember my jeans being torn off." I asked, not liking the fact that my body was just open and available for anyone to see.
"Technically, only me. But I didn't actually look. I covered you with my jacket before bringing you here and Steve out his jacket over the rest of your body when I got you here. He didn't even look, kept his head turned away and draped it over you." Bucky said. A caring tone lingering in his voice.
"Well thanks. I appreciate it. When can I go home?" I asked, turning to Clint.
"Oh you're not going anywhere. I'm not letting you out of my sight anymore. I'lol have Jarvis set up a room for you right next to mine. I can stop by your place later today to grab your things so it feels more like home for you." He said protectively.
"Well alright then." I said in defeat. I know not to argue with him. He always wins.
After awhile, I had met everyone currently at the compound. Steve, Nat, Bucky, and Bruce. All of them so welcoming.
Wait til they hear me scream from nightmares...
