Time Bomb

Chapter 23

—1 year later/Bucky's POV—
A year flew by without us even really noticing. Dani has been trailing every single day except the weekends with T'Challa. She's strong. She now knows how to control her abilities. Very well at that. I've even joined in on a lot of the sparring sessions and I've gotten stronger myself.
Wakanda has been wonderful to us. T'Challa set us up in a house by the water. It's got 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a huge kitchen, big open living room, a garage, it's really nice. Neither of us expected it to be this nice. Dani has continued to sing and dance on her off days, but she's been doing it without the big audience. It's just me there when she's doing it.

"Hey, Babe?! T'Challa called, he needs us up at the palace asap." Dani called from the kitchen, ripping me from my thoughts.
"Did he say why?" I asked as I grabbed my jacket and headed to the front door where she was already waiting for me.
"Said it's important. To gear up." She said as she opened the door for us. We walked out the door, closing it behind us and got on my bike. She had a feeling a few days ago that something bad was coming so we put a bag of supplies on the bike for emergencies.
We made our way quickly to the palace where I parked my bike and we both walked up the stairs to meet T'Challa who is standing there with a couple of the Dora Milaje women behind him.
"Where's the fight?" I asked as Dani and I stopped beside him.
"On its way, I'm afraid." He answered and gave us both a brief hug.
"Thank you for coming. I'm not sure what all is going on. I just got a call from Mr. Rogers asking for help. Said something really bad is coming and we're going to need all the help we can get. Dani, keep yourself on lock down in there unless it is absolutely necessary. I know you don't want to hurt anyone and I don't want anyone in the way if it comes to it. Save your power. I've trained you this last year very well so I know you can fight." He added and pointed to Dani's chest.
"I don't plan on using it unless I have to. You know that. I learned how to use it in case I ever had to. Not so I could use it just whenever. I promise to fight. I refuse to let this beautiful country be destroyed by whatever is coming. We've got your back, T'Challa." Dani said as she held his hand in hers for a brief moment.
"Thank you. Both of you. I knew having you both her would be beneficial for not just you but also the rest of us. You two have become a part of our community. You contribute wherever and whenever you can. I would like to give you both titles to represent that you two will always be a part of our community. Bucky, your title will be The White Wolf. And Dani, your title will be The Black Wolf. They work together as they should. White to resemble your clear mind. And black to resemble to danger that lurks inside. Our people know of you and will forever keep your secret for as long as you wish it to be kept." He said and I watched as Dani smiled and hugged him fully.
"I'm honored, T'Challa. Thank you." She said and pulled away.
"It's been such a pleasure having you here with us, Dani. If we all survive this impending attack, I do hope we can continue training together. And Bucky, you too of course." He said and nodded at me. I smiled and nodded back. A quinjet landing on the landing pad in front of us pulled our attention to it. We watched as Steve, Sam, Wanda, Vision, Nat, Rhodes, and Bruce all stepped off. Vision's been hurt. T'Challa walked to them and talked as they made their way towards us. I could hear what was being said until they got closer.
"You'll also have these two. It's been a long time but I've got Dani trained very well and Bucky has been training with us so these two can fight." T'Challa said, im finally able to hear what's being said.
"Hey, Buck. How you been?" Steve asked as he pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back.
"I'm good. It's been great here." I answered as he turned to hug Dani.
"Hey you. Long time no see." Dani remarked and smiled at him.
"I know, some things happened while you were gone. I'll tell you all about it later. We gotta get Vision inside." He said as he walked inside with T'Challa, Wanda, Bruce, and Vision.

Dani, Rhodes, and I all stayed outside to keep guard while they did whatever it is they needed to do. Dani and I got ear pieces for the coms and put them in.
"Uh, guys. We got a problem out here!" Rhodes said and pointed to the sky. A huge meteor coming straight down towards us. It crashed against the shield surrounding all of Wakanda.
"God, I love this place." I said as I watched the meteor crumble and slide down the sides of the shield.
"More incoming outside the shield." Dani said as she walked into armory not far from where we had been standing. Only a matter of seconds went by before she came back out carrying two big machine guns. She handed one to me and kept the other for herself. She gave me a couple extra clips as well, which I stowed away in my pockets. Her doing the same.
"I just realized we're dressed the same." I said and smiled at her. She smirked at me and turned to face me.
"Yeah, I figured it would suit us well since this last year we've done everything together. May as well look the same while fighting. Shuri helped me with it not long ago. I wanted to be prepared if anything happened." She said and placed a sweet kiss to my lips.

It wasn't long after that sweet kiss when Steve came running out with T'Challa and we were instructed to get into vehicles. We all headed towards the open field beyond the palace. Tons of vehicles, Bruce in a Iron Man suit made to look more like the Hulk. And a crap ton more soldiers from different Wakandan tribes.
Once we got there, all of us hopped out of the vehicles, Dani sticking to my side. Steve, Nat and T'Challa went towards the shield while the rest of us lined up and prepared for the incoming battle. 
When Steve came back, I looked at him as he came to the other side of me.
"They surrender?" I asked.
"Not quite." He answered, staring straight ahead.
