"Uncle Clint is here!!" Clint yelled as he walked in the house without knocking. Fortunately for him, we did tell him to just come in. We however did not tell him to yell when he came in.
"Oh shit, I hope she wasn't asleep. I'm so sorry!" He quickly apologized as Nat started to cry in my arms.
"She wasn't asleep, but she is very tired and at 3 months old she seems to think she's going to miss something if she goes to sleep." Dani said as she came out to the living room from the nursery carrying diapers and wipes.
"Here you go, I gotta use the bathroom. Can you change her please?" She asked and I nodded, knowing since giving birth, she hasn't quite mastered holding her bladder again yet.
"My god, she's beautiful." Clint said as he sat down on the floor beside me as I changed Nat's diaper.
"I think it's amazing that you two agreed to name her after Natasha. She would've loved this little girl to pieces." He said quietly as he reached a single finger out for Nat to grab hold of, and she did immediately.
"Seems she already likes you, she wouldn't grab hold of Sam for a week. He tried everything possible to get her to do it and she just wouldn't." I said and smiled at Nat holding Clint's finger.
"Then this trip is already perfect." He remarked and continued to gaze admiringly at Nat. I finished cleaning her up and got her sleeper zipped back up.
"You can hold her if you'd like, it would actually be great if you could get her to go to sleep. I know you have a daughter of your own, so if you have any tricks, please use them." I said and stood up from the floor. Clint carefully picked her up and cradled her in his arms, leaning against the back of the couch and he spoke quiet soft words to her.
Knowing Nat is in good hands, I made my way to the kitchen to find Dani doing the dishes.
"I didn't even see you come out of the bathroom." I said and began putting away the dishes from the dishwasher so she could load it back up.
We finished the dishes and went back out to the living room, plopping ourselves down on the couch.
"Hey, I got her to sleep and put her in her crib. Can I help out with anything? You two should get some rest, you look beat." Clint said as he walked into the living room from the nursery.
"Oh, no. I couldn't ask you to do anything like that. You're our guest." Dani said, picking her head up from the back of the couch where she had let it fall to.
"Dani, seriously.. I don't mind. I know what it's like having a little one. Unfortunately, Laura and I didn't have help when Lila was born but I'm here and I'm happy to help out. Please, you two just go get some rest. I'll keep an eye on little Nat and tidy up for you." He insisted and already began picking up all the baby toys from the floor and putting them in the basket by the fireplace.
"Well I certainly won't say no. You're the real MVP, Clint. I appreciate you. Come on, doll." I said and picked Dani up in my arms, carrying her to the bedroom.
"Not a problem at all, I'll see you two in a few hours." Clint said as I got to our bedroom.—Clint's POV—
Over the next few hours, I picked up all the baby things scattered around the living room, unloaded the dishwasher when it was done, did a couple loads of laundry for them and just as I was getting dinner started, Nat woke up.
I went into her nursery and got her diaper changed and into a clean outfit since she peed through. I picked her up and brought her out to the living room where her swing is. Having had to carry multiple things when Lila was little, it was nothing for me to grab the swing and take it to the kitchen so little Nat could watch me while I cooked dinner.
I made sure to feed Nat while the pasta cooked on the stove. She is just so beautiful. The perfect ratio of Bucky and Dani all in one tiny person. I've only just met her a few hours ago and I'm already so in love with this little girl and I would do anything to keep her safe if need be.
"Hey, how's she doing?" Dani asked as she entered the kitchen, her hair still slightly messy from such a deep sleep.
"She's good! She just finished a bottle and we've just been hanging out while I'm cooking dinner. You sleep okay?" I answered and smiled at her.
"That's great. I'm glad she's taken such a liking to you so quickly. And I slept alright. To be honest, I've been having these nightmares the past few days and I can't figure out what they mean." She said as she sat down on the floor beside the swing.
"I know that feeling. I've had those types of dreams before. They're hard to even describe to someone so you're left to figure it out on your own." I said, turning to face her while I stirred the pasta.
"Exactly. I tried to explain it to Buck the other day but I couldn't even properly describe what had happened in the dream so he didn't quite understand and couldn't help me. So I just have to figure it out on my own." She said, leaning her head against the base of the swing.
"Well hey, if you ever need a babysitting so you can properly figure it out, Laura and I would be more than happy to watch little Nat for you. It would be no problem at all." I said and took the pot of pasta over to the sink where I had already set up the strainer.
