(Soffia's Pov)
Groaning I roll over, hearing my mom call for me to wake up. Pulling my blanket over my head, I try to fall back to sleep. "Get up, Soffia Mae," my mom says, pulling the covers off me. "Momm," I whine, "Soffiaa," she says, mocking me. Rolling my eyes, I stand up, stick my tongue out at her, and run into my bathroom. "Keep that tongue in your mouth, girl," I hear mom say, laughing.
Walking out of the bathroom, I go over to my dresser and grab a pink skirt with a white tank top thing with white thigh-high socks and a white cardigan. Adding a heart belt to my outfit, I quickly put my hair in two french braids, leaving some strands out. Grabbing my bag and phone, I head downstairs. Seeing my mom in the kitchen, I take a seat at the table.
"What's for breakfast?," I ask, swinging my legs softly, and she chuckles and hands me a bowl of oatmeal with fruit in it. "Thank you, mom," I say to her with a smile and eat my fruit. "I have to go now, but I'll see you later, hun. I love you," mom says, quickly kissing my head and heading out the door. I yell "love you" after her and finish off my food, putting my dirty bowl in the sink.
Running out the door and locking it behind me, I get in my car and head to school. Arriving at school, I see Bella leaning against her truck with a book her eyes are scanning around looking for someone. "Hey Bels, who are you looking for?" I ask, leaning on her truck next to her. "No one," she says, looking over at me.
Seeing Alice and Jasper and their family pull in, Alice gets out of her car. She smiles and waves towards me. I wave back and give her a small smile, then turn my head towards Bella she's giving me a weird look. "What?" I ask. "Nothing," she says, putting her book away. Heading inside the school, Bella and I head to our first class.
Bella and I walk into the cafeteria and take a seat next to Jessica and Angela, who are watching videos on their phones. I take a book out of my bag and open it up to continue reading. Looking up, I notice the Cullens at their table. Everyone but Edward is there, and I wave towards Alice and Jasper, giving them a smile.
They both give me a smile and continue their conversation with their siblings. Looking back down at my book, I read from where I left off, getting lost in my story. The bell rang once to signal that lunch was over sighing, I put my book away and head to my art class.
Arriving to class, I take a seat at the same spot I sat at last time and watch the door, waiting to see Alice walk in. She walks in with a skip in her steps and comes over to my table and takes a seat. "Hi Sof," she says cheerfully, giving me a big smile. "Hi Alice," I respond.
"How are you today?" she asks, setting her chin on her hands to look at me. "I'm good," I say, scanning over her outfit. I really like her style it suits her well. Snapping out of my thoughts I look up into her eyes and smile. "How are you?" I ask her softly. "I'm amazing," she says sweetly, giggling softly at her. I turn toward the front of the class as our teacher begins to speak.
"Good afternoon class! Today we will be starting a project that will be due in two weeks. You will each be paired up with your table buddy and need to draw each other as you see each other. "You need to learn about each other and work together," she explains well when handing out the assignment.
Smiling to myself as I get to be paired up with Alice, I look towards her, seeing her smile at me. "So partners," she says with a soft giggle. "This is exciting," I squeal softly, and Alice smiles at me. "Here, hand me your phone, and I'll give you my number, and we can meet up to start our project this weekend," she says.
Handing her my phone I swing my legs softly, waiting for her to hand it back to me. "Here you go, we should get to know each other a little more before class ends," she says, turning her chair towards me so she's looking at me. Nodding, I turn my chair as well and give her a sweet smile.
"So tell me about yourself, Soffia," she says, resting her head on her hand. Playing with my fingers nervously, I look up at her. "Well, I'm eighteen, and I just moved here. As you know, I live with my mom me and her are really close." "I'm super into the color pink and pastels," I say softly. "I've noticed, you wore pastel colors yesterday and pink today, and your Jeep is also pink," she says with a chuckle.
My face turns a light shade of pink, and I look down. "There's no need to be embarrassed it's cute," she says to me. My face is going to look like a tomato if she keeps saying stuff like that. Groaning internally, I look back up after the blush has gone from my face and give her a soft smile. "Well, continue," she says with a soft laugh.
Her laugh is so cute it's the softest laugh I've ever heard. Smiling toward her, I fiddled with the end of my skirt. "I also love to draw and read I have quite a few books, plus I always carry one with me." "I also love to be outside. The other day I actually found a small clearing; it is quite beautiful," I exclaim excitedly.
"I also love to be outside maybe when we meet up this weekend to work on the project, you can bring me to the clearing." Alice says, well, putting her stuff away, "Yeah, definitely!" I squeal. It would be nice if I could stop sounding eager, rolling my eyes at myself when I hear the bell ringing, signaling the end of class, grabbing my bag I stand up. "Bye, Alice, see you tomorrow," I mutter and walk out of the room.
After school
I got home from school like six hours ago. It's nine p.m. right now, and mom's still not home. She's working overnight, so she won't be home until tomorrow. I've been just laying on my bed reading for the past hours, grabbing my phone. I look in my contacts and see Alice's name. Deciding to just say fuck it and ignore my anxiety, I sent her a message.
Soffia: Hey Alice, It's Soffia I wanted to text you so that you would also have my number.
I quickly throw my phone down, hide myself behind my stuffed polar bear, and squeal. After a few minutes, I hear my phone ding and quickly grab it.
Alice: Hey Soffia! I'm glad you texted me I was just thinking of you.
Soffia: Really? I was just thinking about you too. I am so glad you are my partner for this project!
Alice: Me too, Sof, How are you liking the school and forks so far?
Soffia: I really love forks! I love the rainy weather and all the woods, I've always loved small towns. And for school, well, it's okay I've made like one true friend, which is Bella. It's hard to make friends, especially in high school.
Alice: Hey, you have me too we are friends! And also, same rainy weather is so calming.
Staring at my phone for a couple minutes, I smile seeing that Alice said she was my friend. I can't believe she says we are friends. I'm so happy. I haven't known her long, but I feel like I need her to be in my life.
Soffia: Thank you! I appreciate you being my friend. It's getting late, I'm sleepy, and I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight, Alice. Sleep well see you at school.
Alice: No need to thank me that's what friends are for. Sleep tight, Sof. Goodnight!
Sighing happily to myself, I set my alarm and plugged my phone into the charger, covering myself up in my blankets. I close my eyes and think about the short pixie girl who is now my friend.
