Mia Rose always seemed to be disconnected or distant from others. She would completely ignore the fact that her parents had left her in her grandmother's care and mysteriously disappeared without a trace.
The only person she cares about is her nana, Perilele (pronounced as Perilel) . She shares everything with Perilele. Her nana is 101 years old. Mia often thought that she looked like the walking dead.
The day was dark, with no clouds but no sign of rain. No one would believe that it was mid-April.
A cloaked figure descended from the sky and landed silently. The figure which looked like a man walked in the direction of an old abandoned castle, the walls were broken, and there were overgrown hedges and thorns all over it. He took out a mirror from a black bag that he was carrying and turned it towards the castle and almost instantly the gates swung open, he walked in and disappeared as the gates shut immediately.
Very far away in a tiny dark alley, a hooded person was walking quite quickly. This person was Mia Rose and she was closely followed by two boys who were not far behind her.
Then suddenly she was grabbed and pinned to the wall by one of the two guys.
"Thought you could escape us ?" muttered the boy who was holding her up against the wall.
" Let me go Callock! " she yelled.
" Shhh not so loud and why should I let you go after all the trouble I've been through to get you?! Nah, Nah " whispered Callock.
" Don't make me!"
"Don't make you what?" asked the other boy
Suddenly a beam of white light hit the boys and an old lady came out.
"Run!"
Mia rose to her feet, her grandmother by her side, and the Callock boys followed.
"Take my hand," her grandmother said subtly. Mia only had to touch her grandmother's skin to be drawn back into what felt like a hole.
They both reemerged on a deserted street. They walked a short distance before turning towards an apartment. Mia opened her mouth to speak, but her Grandmother silenced her.
With a key in hand, Perilele unlocked the door. A small light bulb was suspended from the ceiling, and a staircase led upstairs.
"I'd handle it well myself," Mia said quietly.
"What were you thinking when you decided to mess with the Callock boys? You are well aware of the dangers of mixing with Arnamian filth! "Perilele, enraged, inquired.
"They didn't know I was Cascatorian, no big deal,"
"Please, my dear child, utilize your common sense. If they hadn't known that you were a Cascatorian, those filthy Armanian boys wouldn't have followed you. Pack your bags; it's time you learned about our history and your significance to the throne,"
"but..."
"No buts," Perilele cut her off, "You better be ready. It's been long enough running from your family legacy,"
They both went upstairs to the first level and entered the door near the staircase. Their apartment was small, with a dining table for two, a few photos, and a small living room. There were two small rooms leading from the living room.
Mia walked into her room, there was an old bed, a study table, and a tiny window. She opened her closet, took all her clothes, and stuffed it into a duffel bag. After packing her clothes and necessities she sat down at her study table and opened a book titled "The Cascatorian History".
She flipped to the bookmarked page.
