Bryan's POV:
I lean in slowly and barely touch her lips with mine. She smells so good and looks gorgeous with the moon across her naturally beautiful face. The sweet scent of honeysuckle fills my nostrils and I want so badly to nuzzle into her neck for more. I see her close her eyes and wait patiently for me to take the lead. I press my lips to hers and, surprisingly, she kisses me back. Bliss. Pure bliss. I feel the sparks between us and I think she does, too. She pulls back slightly and touches her fingers to her lips. A shy smile spreads across her face.
"Did you feel that?" She asks. Her innocence and beauty are truly breathtaking. She doesn't even realize our bond is forming.
"I did." I reply, not sure how to explain to her what she felt. With her being human, seventeen, and completely in the dark about the town around her, I just have to remain silent for now. It kills me to keep so many secrets from her when all I want to do is tell her everything.
Before she can get lost in thought, I lean in to kiss her again, but this time with a little more force. She responds in kind and opens her lips slightly to allow my tongue entrance into her mouth. I run my hands up her neck and deepen the kiss. I tilt my head to get closer. I feel her hand resting on my chest. For the first time, I think this could work. I think we can grow stronger together and, eventually, I'll be able to tell her the truth. Max purrs inside my head contently. He's thrilled to be with our mate.
Just as I'm about to snake my arm around her waist, the sound of breaking glass causes her to jump. My head snaps back toward the house. I allow my mindlink to be unblocked. I hear Luke saying he's headed my way and to keep Amanda away from the house. I refocus only to see a worried look on her face.
"Didn't you hear me? What's going on?" Her voice cracks. She looks at me with fear apparent on her face. Before I have time to answer her, Luke and Sam arrive.
"Time to go, bestie! The party went south and I think Bryan is gonna need to go help Nick asap." Luke says quickly, giving me a quick glance which I fully understood. Sam grabs Amanda's shoes and helps her to her feet. She begins to shake the water off of her feet and unroll her pants. I let out a frustrated groan. After slipping her shoes back on, Amanda takes a step toward the house.
"Nope...we will be going this way. No need to get mixed up in all of that high school drama," Luke warns. He wraps an arm through Amanda's and I have to stifle the growl rising in my throat.
Don't worry Beta, I will keep her safe. Luke mindlinks me to squash my insecurities of another male touching my unsuspecting mate. I nod.
"Uh ok." Amanda still looks worried and concerned about the people in the house. She then glanced at me with even more concern knowing I have to take care of whatever is happening in the house. I desperately want to kiss her goodbye, but I know time is of the essence. Sam and Luke begin leading Mandy around the house. As they get to the corner of the house, I feel the need to call out.
"I'll call you later!" I yell toward her as I begin to take off for the house.
"You don't have my number." She yells back at me. "Does he?" She questions.
"I'll get it from Luke!" I respond as I make it to the back door which is hanging by its hinges. "What the fuck?!! Why can't we have one party without a fight?" I shout before entering the house.
To put it mildly, it's chaos. Girls screaming or crying, guys trying to break up the fight. Seems someone from a neighboring pack came and after a few drinks, he started shit talking. Of course, Nick, our Gamma, had to set him straight. I walk in at just the right time to stop the fight from going to another level. "Break it up! Party's over!" I growl over the music. The room falls silent with only a few huffs and puffs from the fighters. People start making their way to the front door toward their cars. I slump into the coach and look at Nick. "Really dude?! Tonight, of all nights! I finally got to spend time with Amanda! And where the hell is James?" I ask sternly. Nick shrugs his shoulders, but as if on cue, James and Whitney rush in.
"Damn! Who fucked up my house?!! My dad's gonna be pissed!" he exclaimed.
"Sorry dude, my bad. I promise to pay for the damages and help clean up, but I wasn't gonna let that douche from Stone Mountain pack talk shit about us on our own territory." Nick explained. "I almost had him, too. Someone thought he was about to shift and screamed, causing mass hysteria. Then, someone slammed the back door causing it to shatter." Once Nick was done explaining the situation, we all start to help clean up the pack house. Luckily, Alpha Xavier won't be home for a few days because he's away on business. Thank Goddess because none of us needs one of his lectures about being mature and future leaders of the pack!
After about an hour, we cleaned up the damaged rooms, replaced the back door, and settled into the living room to relax. James, Nick, and I chit-chat for a little bit before the clock chimes letting me know the hour. It's late, but I want to at least text Amanda. I realize I never asked Luke for her number and he hasn't made it back to the pack house yet. I slap my forehead and exhale a sigh of frustration. I decide I'm going to bed.
"Goodnight guys! See y'all in the morning." I begin walking upstairs to my room when my phone dings.
"I hope this is the right number. But, when you didn't call, I got a little concerned. Just wanted to check and make sure you didn't get hurt in that fight. -A"
She texted me! Hot dog! Now I just need to save her contact!
"I'm fine. The house had to be cleaned before James' dad gets back from his business trip. I didn't get a chance to ask Luke for your number. Thank you for checking on me and for tonight. -B"
"Oh ok. No problem and anytime....well...you know what I mean. Anyways, goodnight. -A" I can practically see her blushing through the text. I shake my head and smile.
"Good night and sweet dreams beautiful. -B"
When she doesn't respond, I head off to bed. As I lay in my room, I can't help, but replay our kiss over and over again. Sweet dreams indeed.
