Scott's Perspective

"Hey sweetie!"

Scott got tackled by his mother when he entered his home.

"Hi mom." Scott broke apart from the hug.

"Whose scarf are you wearing?" she asked, looking at the green scarf.

"Just a friend." Scott brushed it off and walked into his room.

"I got a lot of homework." Scott said, closing his door.

"Really? On the first day?"

Scott shook his head, "They just wanted me to read and stuff to catch up."

He held up a history textbook, "Hopefully this won't take long."

She kissed his forehead and Scott sat down at his desk.

He sighed as he opened up the math textbook and took notes.

-

"Scott, honey, it's time for dinner." His mother knocked on his door.

"Coming." Scott yawned, closing his notebook.

Most of the classes didn't take much but he has to finish with Spanish (which he's about halfway through).

He walked out into the dining room and saw that his mother had ordered pizza.

"I spent the whole day unpacking stuff for our kitchen and filling it that I didn't have time to cook anything. But now we have lots of food!" His mother smiled.

"That's great!" His father said as Scott started eating, "Scott, how was your day?"

Scott looked up at his smiling dad and shrugged.

"It was good. I made some friends."

"One of them gave him their scarf." His mother interrupted.

"Really? What're their name?" His father asked.

"Uh..." Scott trailed off.

They know I'm gay, you'll be fine. But if you tell them, it's a boy then they'll think that you like them, and it'll be a whole thing. But if I lie and tell them it was a girl, I'd feel bad for lying about that and...

"Scott?" His mother asked, looking worried.

"Jimmy. His name's Jimmy." Scott said finally, his head screaming at him.

Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck.

"Is he nice?" His father asked, clearly catching on to the idea that Scott might like him.

"Yeah, he's nice. He showed me around school today."

"And he gave you, his scarf?" His mother asked.

Scott nodded.

"Does he like sea creatures?"

Scott shrugged, "I didn't talk with him much today. Like about hobbies and stuff."

His father nodded and said, "Why don't you ask him to hang out at that café you like?"

"What café?" Scott asked, then he remembered the one that he sat at when he met Gem.

"Oh! That one! ...what if he doesn't like café's or think I'm stupid."

"He won't think you're stupid." His mother reassured him, and Scott soon went back into his room.
