(How Adrian looks ^^^)

-Thirteen Years Later-

*Adrian's POV*

I looked bored out the carriage's window, mother insisted I come to Alice's engagement party so I could also find a bride. I insisted on not marrying until Alice did because all we had was each other. I love mother, but she never understood the bond that Alice and I have even though we are 6 years apart. Besides, this engagement party is a surprise to Alice and to the most boring and awful man. I smirked at the thought, of course, Alice will reject the proposal. She isn't the one for marrying at the moment, no less to Hamish Ascot.

I watched as mum fixed everything that she believed that was wrong with Alice's appearance. Alice jerked her head away from mother, "Must we go? Doubt we notice if we never arrive." I snorted, knowing that this is all for her and they would definitely notice that we never arrived. Mother swatted my arm with a small smile before it vanished. Alice looked at me suspiciously. "They will notice," Mother stated. Mother continued to fix Alice's clothing, "Where's your corset?" Mother looked upset. I grinned, "Yeah, Ali. Where is your breathing restrictor?" Alice didn't say anything and looked down, causing mother to take a deep breath and go to raise her skirt, only to look astonished, "And no stockings?"

I snorted harder and began laughing. Mother swatted me again, "She isn't properly dressed!" I stopped laughing for a moment, "Mum, I completely doubt that anyone will look under her skirt to see no stockings. Her dress is long enough to cover her legs and if anyone lifted it, they would have to worry about a lot more than no stockings." I stated and Alice smiled softly. Mother sighed at both of us. "I'm against them," Alice said matter of factly. Mother glowered at Alice and stated again, "But you're not properly dressed." Alice looked at mother incredulously, "Who's to say what is proper? What if it was agreed that "proper" was wearing a codfish on your head? Would you wear it?" I smiled and laughed under my breath at that comment. "Alice," Mother sighed in exasperation. "To me, a corset is like a codfish," Alice said, then looked out the carriage. "Please, not today," Mother pleaded demandingly. "Father would have laughed, just like Adrian," Alice said.

I hung my head in sadness. I missed our father so much and everyone knew that. It didn't help mother that I looked so much like him. I knew it hurt her sometimes to look at me because I did look so much like our father. Mother looked down in sadness, then gripped my hand for support. "I'm sorry. I'm tired. I didn't sleep well last night." Alice said in apology. I smiled sadly at her, knowing why she didn't sleep. "Did you have bad dreams again?" Mother asked in concern. I grinned, "I wouldn't call them bad as long as that White Queen you told me about confessed her love for me." I sighed in longing, "She sounds beautiful and I can't wait for her to sweep me off my feet, " I stated, acting like a girl in love. Mother rolled her eyes and grinned at me, only to swat me multiple times in the arm, "Hush you." I pouted at her.

"Only one mum, It's always the same, ever since I could remember. Do you think that's normal? Don't most people have different dreams?" Alice asked in confusion. Mother shook her head softly, "I don't know." Mother took off her necklace and put it on Alice. I smiled softly, she looked like mother, while I looked like father. Then Margaret looks like a mix of both of our parents. "There. You're beautiful. Now, can you manage a smile?" Mother asked, and Alice smiled softly only for it to drop again. I grinned, "I'm almost glad you don't have different dreams, I get the full immersion of my future bride." Alice giggled, "You only ask about her, nothing else." Mother smiled at the both of us, "Adrian, she doesn't exist and I'm sure you can't find someone like her." I pouted and fake cried, "B-but mummy I love her and I want her!" Mother and Alice started laughing. I smiled, glad I could put a smile on both of their faces. "You're mad," Alice told me. I grinned, "All the best people are."
