*Iracebeth's POV (The Red Queen)*
"You must find Alice, Stayne," I pace around my room, "Without the Jabberwocky, my sister's followers will surely rise against me and get her hands on my king." I failed to notice that Stayne rolled his eyes at the thought of Adrian. "Ugly little sister. Why do they adore her and not me?" I claim while walking out onto the balcony. Stayne follows me, "I can't fathom it. You are far superior in all ways." "I know," I start sadly, "But Mirana can make anyone fall in love with her. Men, women," I look at the furniture held up by pigs and monkeys, "Even the furniture. I have no doubt that she would get my handsome king in her clutches as well."
Stayne looked down into the river occupied by heads, "Even the old king?" I followed his gaze, "I had to do it. He would have left me. Also, have someone get that crown off his filthy head. My darling will need it at the wedding." Stayne grits his teeth and softly asks, "Majesty, is it not better to be feared than loved? You saw that dreadful boy's face earlier, he was frightened. Does that not please you?" I sigh, "Not certain anymore. I want him to love me, but that will take all the time in the world I know. Oh let her have the rabble. I don't need them. Until Adrian can learn to love me," I state then hugging Stayne, "I have you."
*Adrian's POV*
Alice and I walk into the room where Hatter is making hats for the Red Queen. Alice smiles, "They're wonderful. You must let me try one on." I smile as well, taking in the wonderous talent that Hatter has. "It is good to be working at my trade again," Hatter smiles and looks at Alice. I grin, thinking that those two would be great together. "It's just a pity you have to make them for her," Alice softly says while watching Hatter. Hatter frowns and stops what he is working on, "What is the hatter with me?"
I grin at the play-on-words but frown when he starts to trash the room. Alice looks to me for help and I shrug, "Does he always do this? I'm not sure how to help." Alice walks over to Hatter and cups his cheeks to calm him down. "Have you any idea why a raven is like a writing desk?" Hatter asks calmly. I space out, remembering that my father asked me the same question. Could this be a dream and not real as I thought? I shake my head, no two people could have the same dream at the same time.
"Have I gone mad?" Hatter asks and Alice and I smile at each other, remembering what father told us. Alice put her hand to his forehead, "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are." Hatter smiles at her then looks at me and grins. "My dear boy! You're here, but you're not supposed to be here. Well, I can only assume that you didn't mean to be here. Then again-" I laugh and place my hand on his shoulder, "No my good hatter, I didn't plan to be here, but I plan to leave when Alice finds the Vorpal sword and leaves for Marmoreal. I wish to see the queen I am supposed to be with." Hatter smiles at my statement.
I stand there watching Alice and Hatter share a moment, smiling at each other. I cough, gaining their attention, "Um, hate to interrupt but we need to focus." Alice nods and tells me to stay in the room Hatter is being chained in while she searches for the sword. I nod and listen to her, knowing that if I run amuck, then Iracebeth will practically hold me hostage in her presence.
Stayne comes by and pulls Hatter out so he can put the hats on Iracebeth's head, "If I had my way, you'd be dead by now." I glare at him, "Stayne, I don't want her. You can have her." Stayne sneers, "I wish it was that simple. She's obsessed with you. You're not much to look at. I can't believe that she wants you." We glare at each other and Stayne leaves me in the room, more than likely so Iracebeth can't drag herself all over me and make Stayne upset.
Well, that is fine by me.
