"Haec Beni Zo Sa Benedicimus."

Maci was leaning on the balcony, breathing in the city, Elijah by her side. They both had glasses in their hands, the wine bottle waiting by their feet for top-ups. It finally felt slightly colder in the city, the dark night sky reminding them that October was winter, though the weather wasn't exactly an issue for vampires.

Still, Elijah placed his suit jacket over her shoulders gently.

"You put blood in this," She swished the drink.

"Have you changed how you take it?"

"Never!" Maci smiled, "How have you been?"

"How do you think?"

"Family drama, new witches, old vampires...a city with a lot of baggage..." She tilted her head, "Tired."

Elijah raised an eyebrow.

"You seem tired," She clinked her glass on his, "And we both know you make your worst choices when you're tired."

"Who says I've made any bad choices recently?"

"Ten centuries and you doubt my ability to read you?"

Streetlife dying down beneath them.

"You seem to be carrying guilt."

Elijah rested next to her, "I think tiredness is an oversimplification."

"Or you're looking for an excuse to ignore the simple solution."

"A simple solution to a prophecy predicting my family's demise?"

Maci rolled her eyes, "Can we not talk about that?"

"I thought you wanted me to acknowledge my problems?"

"There's a difference," She nudged him, "How have you been?"

"Part of me thinks I never should've left you."

"Quite possibly," She agreed, "But Katerina called."

He looked down.

"So swiftly moving when offered her attention."

"Do I not answer your summonings equally?"

"I have never called on you," She looked offended by the insulation, "You seek me out."

"I miss you," Elijah spoke directly to her face.

"Why do I feel like your family doesn't know you were with me?"

"They don't."

"Are you ashamed of what 'Niklaus,'" She mocked the name, "Might think if he knew?"

"He will now," Elijah tapped her ears.

"Implying he'll listen to us as long as my dear Pria is in the room? Bold."

"Who is she?"

"She's been with you a few weeks now."

"And she has kept to Mira. And she has been lying."

"She is important to MiMi. That is all that should matter to you."

"And who is 'MiMi' to you?"

"Innocent," Maci mused, "Far too familiar."

"You and Mira are not alike."
