Skip to the next day, Max and Claire are sitting in a hair salon, Tonia is working on Max's hair
Max: Yes, Tonia, like I say every single time, I want my hair SHORT
Ton: But you had such beautiful long blonde hair, don't you want it back?
Cla: Tonia. Please, do what she asks.
Ton: Fine. Fine. Short, again.
Tonia starts shaving the sides short again. Skip to later. Max and Claire walking out of the hair salon. Max her hair is looking good, the style fitting the color, as best as possible.
Max: This will do
Cla: I kinda like it, Max.
Max: Really?
Cla: Prefer it if it wasn't green, but you know.
Claire smiles, they get in the car. Skip to Vex walking Rover on the street. Lincoln runs up to him
Lin: Hi guys.
Lincoln greets Rover, who is excited to see him. Then Lincoln goes to kiss Vex.
Vex: Babe, what are you doing here.
Lin: Just running, am I not allowed too?
Vex: Did you miss me?
Lin: A little
Vex: You know, in a few days that won't happen anymore
Lin: I can't wait, honestly. It's gonna be the best
Vex smiles
Vex: Mom keeps telling me she thinks it's a bad idea to be roommates with your boyfriend
Lin: Babe. She's just worried. But I swear. This is gonna be AWESOME.
Max is running in the distance, he catches up with them
Max: Lincoln, hey
Vex: What's happening, why are you here?
Max: Just going to visit dad on the way
Vex: And you're running there?
Max: I don't know man, got this energy boost.
Vex: What?
Max: First day jitters?
Lin: Oh, that's tomorrow? You excited?
Max: As excited as everyone else for another year of torture. That's why I gotta run this anger off of me. See you at home boys.
Max kisses Rover on the head and runs away
Vex: Since when can he run?
Lin: First day Jitters, babe.
Lincoln smiled. Skip to Max arriving at the cemetery. she stops running and looks at her stopwatch, it says 15 minutes.
Max: That IS strange.
Max walks to her dad's grave. She sits down on the grass in front of the grave.
Max: Strange things, dad. Firstly, the green hair. That was strange, NO, firstly that rain. And my skin, glowing? That was strange, then the green hair. I swear I thought it was a prank but Vex didn't do this. So who did? And THEN, I just ran for 15 minutes, and I'm not even tired. What's that about? I have the worst stamina ever. I've never been able to run for 15 minutes and not be closer to the grave then you are. Ironically. You might wonder why I'm even here. I never visit you. But you know, mom asked. She's been on her toes again this week. Every year it's the same, this week, will always be the worst week. So I thought if I came here, she'd be a little happier. Not that I don't miss you, but I just don't believe in the whole afterlife thing. I don't think anyone can hear me right now. So why are you talking to a stone then? I don't know. Good questions. I have never done that. Something feels off today. A lot of things feel off today.
Max sighs and gets up, she notices the bushes move in the near distance. She keeps looking at it, but no one is there. She shakes it off and starts her stopwatch again. Max starts running, she is almost home and is still running she looks at her watch and it says 20, she feels her heartbeat still beating calmingly. she decides to keep running instead of going home. Skip to a while later. Max is somewhere in a forest and her phone goes. She stops running and picks up
Cla: MAX COOPER, WHERE ARE YOU?
Max: What do you mean, I'm running
Cla: MAX! It's been two hours. I don't know what you're doing, but it's definitely not running. come home, NOW!
Claire ends the call, Max looks at her stopwatch, it's saying 1 hour and 24 minutes.
Max: What?
She starts running home.
