Skip to Max in her room, watching a show where a superhero is fighting the bad guys, Claire is shouting from downstairs. Max paused her show and went downstairs.
Max: Hi
Cla: Hey, I'm sorry I'm so late. How was your first day?
Max: Good, good. Yours?
Cla: Good as well. What did you eat?
Max: Oh, um, I ... I um, I just ate some bread. Didn't really feel like fastfood
Cla: What?
Max: yeah, I know right. strange.
Cla: Do you want me to make you something?
Max: No, no, I'm good. Ima just finish my episode and then go to sleep, yeah?
Cla: Okay, goodnight, Max.
Max heads back upstairs. Skip to later at night, Max slowly opens her bedroom door to see across the hall, the lights downstairs are out, Claire's door is closed. Max smiled, she closed her door again and opened her window. She stepped outside onto the carport, she goes to the side and jumps on the ground, superhero landing
Max: Nice
Max goes to the spot of the hatch and puts her hand down on the tiles, the tiles disappear and she pushed the red button. Max heads inside the hatch and pushed the green button. She walks to Jim's room and knocks on the door.
Jim: yeah, come in
Max goes inside, Jim is watching a movie with Spike
Spi: Back again?
Max: Yeah. I still needed to tell Jim something
Spi: Do I need to go? It's just getting interesting
Max: What are you watching? Harry Potter? really?
Max sits down on the couch. Skip to after the movie.
Jim: Alright, so what did you wanna tell me
Spi: I'll go.
Spike goes out the apartment
Max: Um, okay, well. So, um. The green hair, it's a dead giveaway isn't it
Jim: It used to be, but these days anyone can have green hair.
Max: Yeah, right. Okay, well. Yesterday I saw a girl with flashy green hair on the bus
Jim: Right, doesn't mean she has powers, maybe she just likes green hair
Max: No, no she doesn't
Jim: Ah, you know her?
Max: Um... No? Yes? I don't know.
Jim: It's kinda a yes or no question, though. How can you not know if you know someone
Max: It's complicated
Jim: explain it then
Max: It's also quite embarrassing
Jim: Right, it's a girl you have a crush on? So you know what she looks like usually, but you don't 'know' her? Right?
Max: Wow, stalker
Jim: It was a guess
Max: No it wasn't
Jim: MAX! I don't spy on you guys 24/7. That would be very creepy. Occasionally I wanna know how y'all are doing, doesn't mean I know every single detail of your life.
Max: Oh, right. Yes, crush.
Jim: Okay, so, how are you so sure she didn't dye it green herself
Max: Because... we made eye contact, and we both made the same face because we both had the same color of hair suddenly.
Jim: Oh great so you talked to each other
Max: What, no of course not
Jim: Oh my god, Gen Z.
Max: I know it sounds crazy but I know she wouldn't dye her hair green, dad.
Jim: Dad? I'm dad again?
Max sighs
Max: My mistake, Jim.
Jim: No, no, dad is fine. Dad is great. I like dad.
Max: Are you gonna talk to her?
Jim: Me? No. No.
Max: Spike then?
Jim: Why don't you talk to her?
Max: I can't
Jim: Because you're afraid?
Max: Yes, obviously.
Jim: Well, if you're so certain she has powers too, then you need to talk to her.
Max: No, that's why I'm telling you, so I don't have too
Jim: I can't show my face outside this bunker. People think I'm dead, remember
Max: So, you never go outside?
Jim: No, breaking into your room was the first time I've been outside this city in a very long time
Max: How are you not more pale
Jim: We have a lot of rooms, Max. A lot.
Max: Right, okay. Well, then Spike will talk to her
Jim: He won't
Max: Yeah he will... because she needs help too, Jim. She's as confused as I was, as you were.
Jim: So TALK TO HER
Max: YOU DO IT
Jim: NO!
Max: I won't, and you know I won't. I have had a crush on her for over three years, now is not the time Ima start talking to her. Unless you tell her, or Spike, she's gonna live in agony, not knowing what's happening to her. If you're cool with that, yeah?
Jim: Dear lord.
