Inside the room are a lot of monitors and computers, accompanied with two gaming chairs. Jim goes to sit down on one of the chairs and presses one of the buttons. All the monitors and systems start up.
Bai: Good afternoon, sir.
Jim: Hi, BAIN. Sit down, Max
Max sits down in the chair.
Jim: BAIN, can you show me where Claire is, please
Bai: Of course sir.
The monitors start forming one big TV, the live camera feed from within the police station is playing. Claire is sitting at her desk doing paperwork.
Max: What?
Jim: That's Claire, right now.
Max: That's creepy
Jim: It's hard to hear but, parents do keep secrets. BAIN, will you show me the tape of Claire and James two weeks ago.
Bai: On it, sir.
The tapes go back to the asked time of Jim. You see James walking inside the police station towards Claire's desk
Max: Who is that
Jim: Just watch. BAIN turn the sound on
Bai: Sound on
The tape continues with sound.
Jam: Hi
Cla: Oh my god, hi, James. I didn't think, sorry what are you doing here
James gives Claire a box of chocolates
Jam: I just wanted to give this to you, to thank you for our amazing date last night
Claire smiles
Cla: Thank you.
Jam: I can't wait for our next one
Cla: James, we talked about this, slow.
Jam: Yes I know, the kids. The kids don't have to know everything, Claire.
Claire smirks
Cla: Of course. But they're still pretty hung up on their dad, so anything new, gotta go slow
Jam: Claire, I know. I have the same thing at my house, don't worry.
Cla: I am worried
Jam: Why
Cla: Because I like you, a lot, James.
Jam: Then why be worried
Cla: They might think I don't love Jim, or that I forgot about him
Jam: Is that what you're worried about?
Cla: No, no. I accepted his dead, a long time ago. But I need to have my kids best intressted at heart.
Jam: I understand, it's hard bringing this topic up, isn't it
Cla: Yes, yes it is.
Jam: Tell you what, for right now, this is our little secret. We can wait to tell the kids until we feel comfortable.
Cla: I like that. But, um. You're distracting me, I need to work.
Jam: Of course, detective
Claire smiles, James puts the chocolates on her desk and he walks out the building. The tape stops playing
Jim: See Max, your mother has been on more than a few dates, with a lot of different people too. This is the first guy to even come close to this conversation though. No one was good enough to break the trust she had with her kids.
Max: You're spying on mom
Jim: It's not spying
Max: It's spying
Jim: That wasn't the point, was it.
Max: So, you're telling me that she's over you? And felt she couldn't tell us?
Jim: Yeah. basically.
Max: Wow. I mean, we did never say it was okay for her to move on, maybe we should
Jim: It's not something you think about, is it
Max: No, not really.
Jim: I know I hurt your feelings, but can you forgive me?
Max: Maybe, Jim, maybe. It's gonna take a while.
Jim: I get that, as long as I can help you in the meantime?
Max: Yeah, I'd love that.
