11. Noah

His car ^^ there

"Mary, I want to go check out this car I saw for sale the other day and want to go out to lunch so get dressed ok?" I said as I knocked on her door. It's around ten so she should be at least awake. I let her sleep in since it's holiday break for her so no need to wake her up if we have no plans.

"I'm already dressed Noah." She said as she opened the door and smiled at me.

"Ok. You don't mind hanging out with me for a while today?" I asked and she shook her head.

"No, I've spent a lot of time at Erica's since you have to work so since you're off today, I'm all yours."

"Perfect. I have everything I need for the car so just have to go check it out. I talked to the guy already but couldn't look at it until today. It's a good car, a Chevy Malibu and it's red. It looks nice and the guy said there's nothing wrong with it, just selling it because he bought a truck and had no use for a second car when he already had one plus the truck. It'll be nice to have a car again won't it?"

"Yes, I like taking the bus and walking but yea it'll be nice to have a car again." She said as we put our coats on. I grabbed the envelope of money and my wallet, keys, phone, and hat with my gloves and made sure Mary was done putting her stuff on before we left.

On our walk to this man's house we talked about her time with Erica and how work has been going for me, what we plan on doing Christmas eve which is in two days and about Joshua.

I haven't seen or talked to him since the last text he sent me the morning after he left my apartment. I think it may be over before it even started honestly. I don't want it to be but I'm not going to force him to be with me and I don't want him to be with me until he's ready for a committed relationship because I know what I want out of our relationship and I know I want him so I'll be patient and wait because he's worth the wait and worth me giving my love to.

I can't say why he has such a hold on me. It's been there since day one and I have never felt this way about anyone before so I know he's special. He's a wonderful kind man, I've seen it with my own eyes and when he does actually smile a real genuine smile, it lights up his whole handsome face and beautiful eyes that I can't look away.

"Noah? Your phone is going off." Mary said, bringing me out of my thoughts and I looked at my phone and smiled when I saw the text.

"Hi my sweet Noah, I was wondering if you and Mary would like to join David, his two daughters, and myself of course tomorrow evening for Christmas eve dinner at my place? I'd really love to see you and to talk to you about us. I hope you accept my invitation and to see you soon." I couldn't help but feel happy that he wanted to see me.

"Hi my sweet Joshua, I'd love to join you all for dinner. I have missed you so it would be lovely to see you again. Let me know your address and I'll be there. Don't worry about a driver, I'm actually about to buy a car so I will be able to drive to your place. Should we bring anything?"

"That's wonderful, I hope it's a good stable vehicle you're choosing and no, just your wonderful sexy self is all you need to bring and that adorable little sister. I'll see you tomorrow evening. Here's my address..." And we kept texting until Mary and I were at the man's house.

We spent a half hour going over everything about the car and I took it for a test drive and he even showed me paperwork on the uptake on the car to show it has been taken care of and it's a beautiful car. The color is slick and shiny, the interior is tan leather, touch radio with satellite radio and backup camera, GPS, Bluetooth capabilities, and no holes or tears, no scratches anywhere, the seats are comfortable and it's just a beautiful car. The man only wanted forty-five hundred for it, which is a great deal for a car that's only a few years old and in almost perfect condition.

"Before we leave, may I ask why you sold it so cheap when I know you could have gotten at least eighteen thousand for this car?" I asked the man as we were standing in the parking lot of the building where I transferred the car into my name.

"Honestly? I don't need the money Noah. I'm not the kind of person who expects to get back what I spent on something when I decided to sell it just after having for a couple of years. Your story about you and taking care of your sister and your living situation and needing a car touched me and I had the price higher honest I did but I spoke to my husband and told him about you and he reminded me of the time when we were young and needed help and someone was kind enough to help us so this is my way of paying it forward so to speak. You have a lot on your shoulders young man and now you have one less thing to worry about. If you ever need anything, anything at all call me alright? I'll be there. Take care of yourself and have a very Merry Christmas young Noah." He shook my hand, tipped his hat and walked away without waiting for me to reply so I shook my head smiling and went to the car that was warm with Mary inside checking it out and got in.

"Ok so we got invited to Joshua's tomorrow evening for Christmas eve dinner and I want to bring something even though he said not to. I want to get him a gift and David has two daughters so maybe we can get them three something as well, David and his kids I mean."

"That's a great idea, want to go to the mall?" She asked like the excited kid she is and I sighed.

"The mall? Are you insane? It's two days before Christmas and you want to go to the mall?"

"Yea! Come on we hardly got to go and now that you have a car, we can!" Oh this girl is gonna be the death of me. I pulled up the mall address and set the GPS and pulled out of the parking lot after buckling my seat belt and made my way to the mall. Mary found a station that had Christmas music playing so we sang songs on the way to the mall.

"Mary stay close to me alright? I don't need to lose you in this crowd." I said when we got out of the car after I looked for a space for ten minutes and finally found one at the end of a row that was in the middle of the parking lot.

"I will, I promise. What do you have in mind to get Joshua?"

"I don't know. What do you get a man who has not told you what he likes or what he's into? I'm lost on what to get him." I sighed and looked around me to see if anything pops out at me on what to get Joshua.

"Remember the cookies, they made him happy and he had tears in his eyes so it has to come from the heart and be special. Do you know anything about his past or his favorite color, kind of music, what he likes to read, anything at all?" Mary asked.

"No, I don't know any of that about him. He hasn't told me much, just that he's not celebrated Christmas in years and he always works. I'll figure something out." I said as we entered a music store. I found a country classic Christmas album on vinyl and I hope he has a record player but something tells me he does with how fancy he always looks.

We walked around the mall for a couple of hours and I managed to get Mary some gifts without her noticing, gotta love a teens mind when it comes to a clothing store. I managed to get Joshua a silky gray tie since that seems to be a favorite color he wears and a nice watch. I have no idea what he's into so flying blind with getting gifts for him it is for now, until he tells me what he likes and I'll know for his birthday and next Christmas. After another couple of hours and an early dinner at Applebee's, we went home.

"I had a great day today with you Noah." Mary said as she sat next to me on the couch and handed me a cup of hot cocoa.

"I did too. Tomorrow is going to be an adventure since we haven't been to Joshua's place, so in the morning I want to bake some cookies and a pie to take to dinner. You don't have to help, you can sleep in if you want."

"I might but if not I'll help. Let's watch a movie." She turned the TV on and we spent the next few hours watching movies, eating snacks and just enjoyed being together.

After she fell asleep lying on me, I picked her up and carried her to her room and kissed her good night and went to take a shower before getting into bed.

"I hope you had a wonderful day, good night my sweet Joshua sleep sweet." I sent Joshua a text before charging my phone and going to sleep, excited about how tomorrow is going to go.
