Shoot I'm running late! I woke up late and now it's throwing my whole day off. I had the morning off but wanted to get up around eight since it's Saturday and do some things before Mary woke up and some shopping before I had to go into work at three but things didn't go as planned.

First I woke up at ten, making us miss breakfast at the diner we go to once a month and a note from Mary was on the counter telling me she went to the park to ice skate so I rushed to go to her only to get stuck behind all the holiday shoppers and by the time I got to the park, it was close to eleven thirty and Mary wasn't there.

Second, my phone was dead since I forgot to charge it last night so I couldn't call her to see where she was so I ended up looking all over to places she hangs out at with no luck whatsoever.

Third, I got splashed with ice, water, and snow from passing cars that I just sat down and cried in the middle of the sidewalk feeling hopeless at the moment. I lost my parents, I can't lose my sister. She never goes places without telling me and when she says she's going somewhere, she stays there and comes straight home afterwards. It's not like her to just switch plans like this, she knows how much I worry and that I'll go look for her as I have done countless times before.

"Hey kid, you ok?" Someone tapped my shoulder and I looked up and sighed, getting off the ground since I'm sure I look as pathetic as I feel right now.

"I'm fine, thanks." I said to the stranger and she smiled and looked me up and down before nodding.

"Please make sure you get home safely, the city isn't safe for kids your age to be out like this." She gently warned and I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Ma'am, I'm not a child, I'm twenty two but I appreciate your concern." Her eyes went a little big and her cheeks a little red and I couldn't help but chuckle at her.

"Oh I'm so sorry, you look so much younger, why are you so stressed, being so young and all?"

"People stress at any age but I understand your question. I'm looking for my sister. She wasn't where she said she was and so I have been looking for the past three hours and my phone is dead so if something were to happen to her I won't know and my apartment is clear across town now from here so I don't even know if she's home yet. I'll be fine. I just needed a minute to lose it before I got myself back together." I looked around and noticed the sidewalk wasn't as busy as earlier so I looked at my watch and saw it was close to two and I had to go home to charge my phone and call around to look for Mary and call off work it seems.

"Good luck and I hope your day goes well my dear." She put a comforting hand on my cheek and walked away. Such a sweet kind woman. I rushed down the street, just my luck that the bus had pulled away ten steps before I got to the stop. I sighed and ran my hands through my short blonde hair and looked up at the sky, as if it had the answer to my problems.

I turned around and ran all the way home, thankfully by not running into people and by the time I made it to my building, I was sweaty and out of breath but that didn't stop me from running up the stairs, down the hall and opening the door with my key that I dropped a couple of times in my haste to find Mary.

"Mary, are you home?" I called out and got no reply so I went into her to see if she had her headphones on but when I opened the door, my heart stopped at the empty room. I went to plug in my phone and waited the few minutes it took for it to turn on and once it was, I dialed Erica's mom's number to see if the girls had went to her house but no answer so I left a voice-mail and dialed everyone else Mary would to and no luck, she wasn't with anyone and Erica's mom sent a text saying she wasn't there but they all said they would keep an eye out for her and call around to see if anyone else we know has seen her. I also called work to let them know I'm not coming in.
