Chapter 33: Purgatory

"Is this where you escaped from?" Jungkook asks as he examines a small hole in the energy barrier surrounding Purgatory.

"Yes." Lee Know answers and kneels down then looks through the hole into the darkness and agony of Purgatory.

"Will we fit?" Seojoon mumbles as he puts his wings away and examines the small hole.

"We need to go. Now." Gabriel tells them when he hears hunters walking towards them.

When Lee Know hears Gabriel, he quickly slips through the hole into Purgatory. Yoongi sighs and follows after the small demon. Once all of them squeeze through the hole, they quickly bunch together and take in their surroundings.

Jungkook quickly draws his sword and cuts down a monster of darkness Then looks at the others to make sure they are all fine.

"It looks like eating that hunter's soul was good for you." Raphael places his hand on Jungkook's stomach and feels the energy surging through Jungkook's body.

"I don't think that is the reason why." Yoongi mutters as he feels his energy suddenly surge as well.

"She is here." Jungkook growls as he grips his sword.

"I thought that they only affect demons and angels when they are in Hell or Heaven." Seojoon mumbles as he tests out his energy surge.

"If Taehyung is in Heaven, then all angels are given extra energy no matter where they are. However, if they are in Purgatory, then only the angels and demons in Purgatory are affected. The reason why I never told Taehyung this is because he would come to Purgatory with us. That will only place him in grave danger. He is safest in the human realm within the territory." Gabriel explains as he looks at Jungkook.

"Thank you for keeping him safe." Jungkook bows his head to the archangel.

"I don't know why she is in Purgatory, but for now, we need to go and find Uriel." Raphael tells them then begins walking towards an angelic energy he feels.

"This place is creepier than Hell." Yoongi mutters as black wisps of darkness surround them.

"Much creepier." Jungkook mumbles and stays close to his older brother.

As Namjoon struggles to care for his wounds, he senses the energy and presence of souls he recognizes, so he quickly stands up and looks around. Being weakened from the loss of his wings, he stumbles to the ground and gasps in pain.

"I have to get out of here and find Jin." He grunts in pain and stumbles to his feet.

"Your soul seems quite delicious, archangel." A menacing voice hisses through the dense fog.

"Fuck off." Namjoon growls and faces the direction the menacing voice came from.

"Quite vulgar for such a heavenly being." The menacing voice sneers and is suddenly behind Namjoon.

"I said, fuck off!" Namjoon shouts and turns to face the distorted being. He quickly reaches his hand out and grabs the creature by the throat and strangles it. "I don't have time for pathetic creatures like you." Namjoon growls and snaps the creatures neck. "I have to get out of here."

As the injured archangel weakly makes his way towards the souls he recognizes, he hears Jungkook's voice shouting. "Kill it!"

"The amount of their blood I have on me is disgusting." Yoongi hisses and slings the black goo from his sword.

"How has Namjoon survived here without his sword while injured?" Jungkook mutters and looks at the monsters that are watching them from the dense fog and shadows.
