Chapter 19: Promises

Katherine and Robert and drove home. At that moment the entire family was sitting in the living room. They were watching television. Robert walked in front and Katherine switched it off. Everyone automatically sat up straight and looked at them.

'What happened Katherine? Why did you switch off the television? It was the finals...', John questioned his daughter. He was immediately interrupted by Katherine.

'Well dad! There was something important to talk about! Will you start Gabriel? Or should I say Robert....'

Everyone immediately stood up. They didn't realized that both of them were doing a drama.

'She caught me... I didn't tell her anything...', Robert's eyes was filled with remorse.

Everyone didn't meet eye contact with Katherine. She was standing angrily with her arms crossed. She was controlling her laughter.

'Katherine dear... Um... This was... We...', Olivia spoke hesitantly.

'Olivia! Could you stop hesitating! I'm utterly disappointed with each and everyone of you!'

'Katherine... Are you suppose to speak like that to your elders?', John spoke in a harsh tone but he said it in a joking way.

'Dad! If the elders can lie to the younger ones so easily then I don't think I will hesitate to say all this...', Katherine barked back.

She couldn't control it anymore! She burst into laughter and Robert turned to her and began to laugh too. Everyone became more confuse.

'Katherine honey... What's going on? Why are you laughing?', Daisy questioned them in her confused tone.

'Come on! We were doing a drama. Just like how all of you did a drama, I did it as well... I'm seriously enjoying it! Right Robert?', Katherine reached her hand out a gave Robert a high five.

'Why are you speaking in such a cheerful tone dear? Aren't you angry with us? Why are you two so friendly with each other?', Pamela questioned this time.

'Yeah Katherine and Robert... Pamela's right... Could both of you explain?', Mark added on.

'Okay... I found out about Robert acting as Robert and I just played a drama with him. I caught him. I wasn't upset or what so ever. But then he told me that all of you were involved in this drama so I thought to scare all of you to death and actually all of you seriously believed it!'

Everyone heaved a sigh of relief and sat on the couch.

'Katherine! You scared us to death...', Olivia shouted happily.

'Wait! There is another news that I want to share....', Robert called for everyone's attention. Katherine was wondering what was it. Both of them never planned anything extra.

'What is it Robert?', Pamela asked willing to hear another news.

'Well... I'm in love with someone.... That angel is over here... Katherine.... My childhood best friend...'

Katherine's eyes bulged out of her sockets! What did she just heard! This was the most embarrassing moment of her life! She was being proposed in front of her parents! Her dad! The father that was forcing her to marry someone who she didn't want some time ago! What was he going to say? How was he going to react?

At that moment, everyone stood up again and yelled together in unison, 'What!'

'What's wrong with that? She loves me and I love her! I'm going to propose to her in front of everyone today....', Robert walked towards Katherine and took her hand. He kissed her palm and then kneeled down. He looked at her. She wasn't meeting eye contact with anyone. She was feeling absolutely shy.

'Katherine D'Cruz, I Robert Robinson, is totally in love with you. You are the only girl that I've ever fall in love with! I love you a lot! I'm really sorry for leaving you when we were young. I don't know what go to me! But I don't regret any moment. Thank god we didn't meet each other. I think we wouldn't have fall in love with each other. When I saw you for the first time at the airport... I was wordless. Then when I saw you and Ryan together. I actually thought both of youI know both of us are still young. Actually too early to get married. We are still 17. I just want to tell you that.... Will you be my girlfriend? Will you marry me once we reach the appropriate age?'

Katherine looked into his eyes. It was filled with genuine. Whatever he just said had mesmerized her. She looked back at everyone. Her dad and Mark were smiling and her mum and Daisy were tearing already. She then saw Olivia. She wasn't smiling. She was a bit serious. At least her parents are happy. She quickly nodded her head.

Robert at that moment kissed her hand and slipped a diamond ring into her finger. She was so happy. Her mother was more happy. Her father was controlling his tears. Olivia's jaw dropped. What was she seeing?

'This ring is the evidence that you are only for Robert and no one else. No one else is to marry you. This is my promise...'

He stood up and looked into Katherine's eyes. She was so happy.

'I guess then today onwards I can't wear heels anymore if not I would look taller than you...'

Everyone began to laugh and both of them hugged each other tightly. The hug felt totally different. It was filled with promises and beautiful and bright future ahead. She was so happy. She couldn't wait to tell this to Olivia and Ryan. For sure both of them would feel happy for her.

As they broke the hug she remembered her parents were present there at that moment. She was feeling embarrassed. What should she do?

She quickly ran up to her room and locked the door. This just felt like a dream. What was this all.

Meanwhile below, Robert was smiling and looked at Olivia. He moved his hand to his cheek and pretended he was scratching it but he was putting a thumbs up and changed it to a thumbs down. He winked at Olivia and made her more again. He remembered their bet. Their challenge. Whether Katherine would accept him if she finds out he's Robert.

He went over to his parents and gave them a hug. He went to Katherine's parents and hugged them. They were all smiling.

Night fell and everyone had just went to their rooms. All had dinner and were just doing their own individual work. Katherine was at the rooftop alone. She looked at the stars and the bright moon. She smiled to them. Her eyes trailed down to her hand. She looked at the diamond ring. It was beautiful. At least was fulfilled that she will be with Robert for the rest of her life.

She was smiling to herself when suddenly someone came from behind and grabbed her. It was Robert. He placed his chin on her shoulder and begin to kiss her ears. This feeling was totally different. She just kept on looking at the ring.

'Where did you get this ring?', Katherine curiously asked.

'I bought this from London before I came. I thought that I would be able to tell you about myself and propose to you but you did both my job. That's why I proposed to you in front of everyone.', Robert explained and gave a kiss on her bare shoulder.

'Do you love the ring?', Robert continued.

'Yup... I love it...', at that moment Katherine turned to look into Robert's eyes.

'I seriously love it.... Thank you so much...', Katherine assured him with a bright beautiful smile.

'And I love you....', Robert went close to her ears and whispered.

She quickly gave him a hug. She then whispered in his ears, 'I love you too'.
